Lectrode don't believe we're talking about the same pick, there was a few thrown by Milroe 😏 Pick 6 was his 2nd Interception when Milroe failed to tackle the feller 🤔
I don't recall seeing that during the game, but you're right. Positively looks like piss poor tacking effort

I’m a little confused by the second tackle attempt by Milroe. Obviously he’s not afraid to tackle someone. You can see that in the first pick. It looks like to me he slowed down a little on the second expecting the guy to cut back. When he didn’t he lost his angle and had a brain fart to trip the guy. In that situation you don’t have to tackle him. Just a little shove would have put him out of bounds. But once he lost the angle he had no choice. I know if I was him I would never speak of it lol. It’s embarrassing either way.

I was on defense one day in practice and had my buddy (the other starting RB) make me look ridiculous on a reverse……Broke my ankles as they say and I never even touched him……I was just proud it wasn’t in a game with a bunch of folks watching...

I ran a naked boot at practice once and my little brother (2 years younger) de-cleated me from the DE spot when I tried to cut back on the Corner. Knocked the wind out of me and rung my bell. Of course everyone on the team was jumping around and slapping him on the helmet. Once I got my bearings straight I went back in the scrimmage. I’m not sure what play coach told me to run but I switched it to a straight option to his side. I had no intentions of pitching it. Ran smooth over him and made sure to step on him with my new Nike Air Sharks lol. Had to re-establish the pecking order 🤣

I did that to a boy in practice one time……He turned out to be one of the best basketball players to ever come through Guntersville…..His sophomore year he decided for about 2 weeks that he wanted to play football……He was playing DB and I broke through the line with nobody left but just me and him……I folded him up and sprained my ankle stepping on him as a ran over him……I was strong and used to hit hard too…… ….I benched three plates at 5’11” 185 lbs……Heck, I knocked my own self silly a few different times……Anyways, he stuck to basketball after that……I kinda regret it in a way looking back cause he may have been a good football player that could have helped us out……He aint want that smoke though……
Pwse……since you were a football coach and seem to enjoy these things I’ll tell my Al Bundy story……All the high school ball had me a little nostalgic….
I was actually ranked by the Birmingham News as one of the top 12 running backs in the state going into my senior year……I was really one of those borderline players to go play college ball though because my size and speed was “good” but just not elite……well, not until track season but that’s another story…..Still though I was getting a lot of attention from the smaller colleges….
So at the tail end of my junior year, our really good football coach who had turned the program around and had back to back 10-2 seasons and coulda/shoulda won the state either of those seasons got into pissing match with the new basketball coach that the school hired and made athletic director instead of him……He quit and went to another school…….The basketball coach wanted it to be a basketball school and was a dickhead on top of that……He purposely scheduled us against people like Hazlewood and ended up hiring the worst coach of the potential prospects he could have hired…..That coach lasted 2-3 seasons before getting fired….my senior year being the first of them….
We had the chance to get a coach that ran our same exact offense and had just taken his team the state championship game…….This was pretty important at the time because we were a 4A school playing a lot of teams above our classification that had superior talent…..The misdirection and all the stuff we ran off of the wing-t offense is how we beat them……The new coach that eventually got hired completely changed everything and went back to running an old school power I……The worst thing we could have done.
So that sets the stage for you…….Now my new coach didn’t really know me and didn’t know that I was the awkward kid who just happened to be pretty good at football….so when we were having a conversation one day and I said the completely wrong thing about becoming G’ville’s all-time leading rusher with “X” amount of yards that season……I guess he thought he needled to humble me after that and make a point……The first game I got 8 or 9 carries and we got beat…..The second game I think I had 11 carries and we got beat…….
Well, we had a preacher that had always went to pregame meals with us as long as I’d been playing…..After the meal was over he always got up and gave some kind of inspirational speech…..He was good at it too……On this particular occasion though he took the opportunity to call out the coach and the play calling and at some point I remember him saying “What in the heck are we doing??.....Give Harold the ball!!!!!”………
So that infuriated the new coach and when we got back to the field house he had a meeting in front of the whole team where he blew his lid and said this and that about him being the coach and making the decisions, blah, blah, blah……Needless to say he took about 2 more games to make his point and halfway through the season I think we were like 0-5 and I had about 200 yards….maybe……About the 6th game of the season he finally gave me the ball…..I was the 4a player of the week with 236 yards and 4 td’s……missing my 5th by one yard when the ref wouldn’t get out of the way….lol…….Next game I had 197 and that was with a 70 yard and a 50 yard run being called back…..
It was kinda too late after that though because the next week we played North Jackson who was stacked with size and talent and had the #1 linebacker in the state that year…..The dude was supposed to go to Bama but ended up stabbing a guy or something …..Anyways, the coach got me abused that game trying to run that power-I right at the guy….. it was the only game I ever played where my attitude was one of just wanting the game to be over……Just getting beat on hurts after a while.
Long story short……my senior season ended up being a disaster and it pretty much tanked my chances of a football scholarship…..I had folks wanting me to walk on but I was soured as hell after all of it and didn’t go……Maybe I should have……I look at it now as all just being meant to be and I’m where I should be…..Who knows where that road might have taken me……..I sure probably didn’t need 4 more years of getting knocked in the head……
Well, I think I’ve reached my quota for sad reliving high school glory days football stories now…….Carry on.

It’s always cool reminiscing CNC. Most coaches finally realize that having good programs in every sport helps each other. Colleges love multi sport athletes too.
Yeah, I like telling old stories but you gotta be careful not be "that guy"…….I used to work with a dude back when I was in my early twenties….I guess he would have been in his late twenties at the time……But he used to just constantly talk about when he played QB at Brantley and how they went to the state title game, yada, yada, yada…….It was like….. “C’mon dawg, it’s over….we both just shipping groceries now”
Just to add a little more about the history of G’ville football and its recent success over the last couple decades though……After that coach lasted a couple seasons and moved on they ended up rehiring most of the former coaching staff that had been there before…..Coach Isom was the former OC and got the new head coaching job…..Coach Reece came back as DC……They went onto to win the state a few years later and after Coach Isom retired Coach Reece became the new head coach and went on to win it a couple more times…..Unless something has changed I believe he is still there…..
That coaching tree and success all started back in the 90’s with Coach Lazenby while he was there and those coaches were all on the same staff. It was a lot of fun playing for them…..Coach Lazenby ended up at Benjamin Russell and took them to the finals a few times…..I don’t recall if he ever won it though…..Last I heard he was still coaching at a school near Mobile I believe……He ought to be getting pretty old by now I guess.

I know coach Laz. Coached against him at Bayside Academy in Fairhope. He left there in 2022. He is now at Bayshore Christian in Fairhope or Daphne I’m not sure exactly where Bayshore is. He started their program this year. Great guy. Wing T guy and he definitely knows how to run that thing.
We used to run up and down the field on folks with that offense......My sophomore and junior year we averaged something like 330 yards per game rushing.....We broke the school record for rushing yards as a team my sophomore year and then rebroke again my junior year....There was 3 of us in back to back to back classes that all ended up as top 5 or 6 all time rushers for the school........My junior season we were the only team to beat North Jackson as they went onto a 14-1 record to win state.....They were 5A at the time and we were 4A......We beat several 5A and 6A teams....We had good coaches those years though who put us in the position to be able to win......That sure makes a difference.....
