What matters more in this age of college football, the ability to have a top ranked recruiting class or the ability to KNOW how to recruit from the transfer portal? I know NIL is an influencer, lets pretend NIL money is a non factor.

U hav to hav a mix of both - but itnis bettr and u get more benefit from high schoolers if u can get em to stay with u for 4 years

Having really good players and lots of them lead to those things you talk about. Those coaches just didn’t decide to excel in those areas, they recruited great players to get there.

Time will tell. There is a benefit from having a great recruiting class from a perspective POV. "I wanna go to X School cause they get great players". The fact that OSU spent $20M is an example of how NIL plays into this as well. The portal is a way to find diamonds in the rough seeking respect and money. All in all I'm not a huge fan. I think the kids should get paid, but the way were doing it seems wrong.

You need both. You have to reload with some that can already play. Dabo doesn't use the portal at all. Lane uses it big time. Florida St. tried it with a bunch from Bama, his mistake was taking that Ukulele kid that almost had Dabo run out of Clemson before he let him go. That kid is worse than the one Bama got from ND and tried for one half of one game, now he plays field hockey. At least Saban was smart enough to bench him after a half, Norvell wasn't. By the way, where is that OC Bama had last year, the next whiz kid at OC? Hopefully, the OC Bama had this year will be somewhere else too next year.

Bama had a WAY more talented roster than ole miss but same record.....and might as well throw sc in there too
