I know one thing, being in IT, if they do away with this it will not take affect immediately. There will have to be all kinds of patching created for software out there that has built in functionality to account for DST changes.

Does sound like a self inflicted Y2K.

well the thread title says goodbye daylight savings...so, that would mean it will be dark earlier all year.

Correct we should stay on daylight savings time year round

Right. But also, you all do realize some days are longer/shorter than others as the seasons progress?

The sun is out the same amount of time, regardless of what the clock says.

I wish it could get dark at 5PM all year. That would be awesome.

For me personally I work in an office most of the time and a normal working schedule and loosing an hour of daylight in the evenings is terrible. So many things that I can’t get done after work due to it being dark. It’s just not healthy for it to be pitch dark at 5pm

A few Atolls in the Pacific lie really close to the equator. For more people you have to go to American Samoa which is a little south.

Guess we should check in with them and and get their feedback on it.

The Brown Boobies like the sun up for an extra hour in the evening.

I am in the minority here. I like the late sunset in summer and the early one in winter. I can fish after work in the summer and be done hunting at a decent time in the winter. Plus, I hate seeing school buses run in the pitch black of pre-dawn.

I much prefer it being light later in the day. I hate it getting dark so early in the evening.

I do like the autumn temps, but would love it with the summer time sunsets.

It naturally starts getting dark earlier in the evening anyway, but that dang hour jump to make it dark an hour earlier seems like it makes a three hour difference.

It would probably be best if they changed the time once every other 2.6 months so that everybody can complain about it equally and nobody will every really know what time it is. Apparently, nobody is ever happy with whatever time it is.

I propose to that from Mar 15 until May 15 the time be changed daily so that sunrise is exactly 6:00 am. Otherwise just do one or the other for the rest of the year

I really don't see why everyone complains about it. Makes me no difference. I personally like it getting dark earlier during the winter and more light during the summer.

Why exactly would you want that?

I hate standard time. I have no problem starting before daylight, but I absolutely hate it getting dark before 6 PM.

DST year round for me. I genuinely detest when the time falls back for those few months. I have to change from a reasonable get up time to hunt/work/fish/whatever, to being up stupid early, and then I'm forced to stop whatever I'm doing because it's too dark to function after 5:30. Really hated it when I was still going to an office every day, cause it would be barely light enough for anything when I walked out, and pitch dark before I could get home.
