I thought 15 over was wreckless? I know mine was. But.. it was a 70 and I was doing....well, the judge thought 85, but wasn't sure and I wasn't telling. But it was triple digits. I was younger and more prone to adrenaline spikes back then.

I’m 10-15 over almost everywhere I go. Speed limits are too dang low and I got places to be. I get pulled over every now and then but I’ve gotten way more warnings than anything.

I personally wish they would up the speed limit on county roads but in most cases we don't need 45 mph brains on 75 mph roads. The county road I pull onto from my little road is now 40 mph. It was 55 for most of my life. About 10 years ago, the county took federal money to redo the road and had to post the limits at what the federal guide lines are at. I cussed that little county engineer for doing that. We do not need federal money to fix county roads. That road is easily a 55 road all day long and it is a long drive to get to the U.S. highway 9. Still peezes me off. I've never gotten stopped (fortunately), but I've seen a lot of folks pulled over by troopers that live in the area and they always get out of the car with their ticket book in their hand. They like to close out their shift close to home. There is two living close by. There are two curves that are necessary to slow down on, but the rest is wide open. It is so stupid, it's ridiculous. Let me tell you about at least one trooper I ran into one day. I was up in Alex City with the wife and kiddos. It was getting close to those stupid ninja turtles coming on, when we were headed back. Tells you how long ago that was...lol I was on hwy 63. There is a big curve at Ourtown. I came over the hill headed downhill to the curve. The car had gotten up to 61 mph. I looked down at my speedo, when he went by the other way and threw his lights on. I pulled over at Ourtown and waited. He came back and was a real dick about it, saying I was doing 71. I don't lie, no need too. He took me to his car and showed me 71 on the radar. I said, you could have gotten that from 280 earlier...he didn't like that. They did not have the time/date stamp then and maybe still don't, which I think is wrong not to have. I didn't argue and was nice the whole time. He acted pissed off. When he handed me the ticket, I said as God is my witness I was not doing that fast. Ok. About 10 days later, the card came in the mail and I went to the Alex city office to pay it. The card said 61 on it!!!!! I told the clerk the screw up and she said, I could only be charged by what the card said. Yeaaah! Either he felt guilty and changed it before turning it in, or God fixed it. (I had prayed about because the more I thought about it, the angrier I became). Prayed and let God have it, so I would have some peace about it. So you can blame the county engineers for taking money to redo county roads, for the speed limit being so dang low. I mean just about all the county roads were 55 for years and years. I have began to think it is a racket, so the cops can write more tickets and the state gets mo' money! There should be no $$$ fines involved. If they want to charge points, that would be ok. I know when I was 16 and living in Montgomery, a ticket was usually just $10 for stop sign/red light/a little speeding. I got them all in a couple of years...lol Whey are they so much now????????????????????????? Rip off.

But 15 over there’s about 50,000 people on I-65 every day that could be ticketed. According to Alabama Code § 32-5A-190, reckless driving is defined as "any person who drivers any vehicle carelessly and heedlessly in willful or wanton disregard for the rights or safety of persons or property, or without due caution and circumspection and at a speed or in a manner so as to endanger or be likely to endanger any person or property, shall be guilty of reckless driving." Those convicted of reckless driving will receive prison time of at least five days, but not more than 90 days, or a fine of up to $500. It is possible for the reckless driver to receive both a fine and imprisonment. The second offense carries a slightly higher prison time and fine. Additionally, the court can decide to suspend the reckless driver's license for a period not exceeding six months. Reckless driving involves more than a driver just making a simple mistake during the operation of a motor vehicle. Someone driving recklessly, also known under Alabama law as wantonness, involves a driver acting in conscious disregard for the safety of others. Examples of reckless or wanton conduct would be driving while impaired from drugs or alcohol; going 20 miles per hour over the speed limit on the interstate; and speeding while also texting and driving. If a person is guilty of reckless driving, then they will also be exposing themselves to punitive damages in court. If a driver is guilty of simple negligence or carelessness, then the injured party is only allowed to recover compensation for their injuries. However, if a driver is reckless and causes someone to be injured, then the injured party can also claim punitive damages to punish to reckless driver and deter others from engaging in the same or similar conduct.

Cops see a lot of bad stuff, I understand why a lot of them are angry. Sorry you got a ticket. I've gotten tickets when I shouldn't have and didn't get them when I should have. I've met some really good ones and just a few bad ones. Never speed on a military base, they will get you for 2 miles over sometimes.

I 16 between Macon and Savannah is a race track. Less than 90 mph you get run over. Cops sit in the ditch and don’t flinch.

Lucky me I guess. Judge threw it out. Cost me court costs and that's it. It was on a motorcycle when two elderly drivers merged and squeezed me between them. I hit the gas and laid into it going up 65 N past Hwy31. Trooper was behind me. Never put the speed on the ticket. Said he understood why I did what I did, and wouldn't have pulled me over if I'd let off when out of danger. I stayed into it all the way up the hill is what got me. I know it was 120, maybe more. Dunno it's been so long. But what got me off the hook was how I dressed and was respectful.

This is why I use the Waze app when I travel. I know where the traffic cops are 99% of the time.

Read Pg 5. I would bet you my left pinky that if you ran that study on the road that I was on, the speed limit would be closer to 70mph than 55moh. I was not gaining on the vehicle that was 1/4 mile in front of me. When I slowed down (to ~58ish) after getting the ticket a line of cars piled up behind me. The way that the speed limit should be set is with NO SPEED limit you let cars drive on the road. You measure the speed of ~100 cars. You then determine the 15th fastest car and that is the speed limit. FYI: I was very respectful to the cop as he stole my $.

. Never speed on a military base, they will get you for 2 miles over sometimes. I'm ready to see more speed limit enforcement on RSA. I about get run over coming off 565 onto Rideout where the speed drops from 50 to 45 in a short span. There was a 2 car wreck on Mon moring just before 6am that I came up on that was probably less than 150 yards in front of gate 9. Can almost guarantee they were still hauling ass & changed lanes too quick w'out looking. A real nice new model black truck probably got totalled that day.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

Reckless is a midemeanor crime too. It isn't the same as a traffic ticket. And there are two parts. The officer has the burden of proof, however, most revenue courts will side with the officer short of Jesus testifying for you. And I wouldn't expect the officer to be honest. I beat one my son got on appeal from a JACK ASS SRO in Chelsea, but it cost me some $. It used to be anything over 79mph was aggravated speeding in alabama, and it was a 5 point ticket. I got stopped many years ago by a state trooper for 72 in a 55 on Hwy 280 when it was still 55. I sort of hemmed and hawed and told him I didn't think I was going that fast. He asked me how fast I was going and I told him 65. He said thats still above the limit. I said I know, but I didn't think you would give me any static for 10 over. He looked at my car and asked me if I had aftermarket wheels and I said I did. He said you probably need your speedo checked and gave me a warning. Of course I needed my speedo checked, I had 3.54 gears in the back, and 3.90 speedo drive in the transmission. LOL!! There was a news story about some towns in GA being bad, small towns with hwy's running thru them, like Brookside.

It is safer for you to to drive 55 and be a man and support the law.
The perfect example of what is wrong with Americans is the panzy wearing small dong Americans lined up behind you who have to speed for no other reason then personal selfishness and their insecurity in being a man thus compensated by whining and wanting to drive fast for zero reason.
