Looking for some intel on binoculars that are really good at dusk/dawn. If you’ve got a really good pair, please chime in.

I’m not a Leupold fan boy, but I’ve had 40mm and 50mm versions of the Bx2 Alpine HD. I have Swarovskis and the Leupolds did remarkably better in absolute minimal light. I did not expect that performance level.

I'm happy with my Leupold BX2 Alpine 8x42. I've never had a high end pair though.

I have been Happy with the older vortex viper HD 10x42 I am using. My son looked through them this evening after looking through some steiners and he said they were much brighter and he could see much better

What power ? Where will you be using them , woods fields , combination ? What's the maximum distance ?

Kowa is very good for the $ , they have a couple of series.

Best bang for the buck are Steiner 7x50 Military Marine. I have a couple high end pair, but always seem to grab them. I like the Steiner because you set each eye separately and then it is good for fifty or five hundred yards with out adjusting.

You should ask- “what are the best binos that I can buy for xx$$, that will be used for (fill in the blank)?

Then folks can provide meaningful information. Currently we don’t know what you are willing to spend or your intended use. “Really Good” is relative.

Seems like folks have been pretty good tossing out ideas thus far regarding light gathering. But to answer your question, I use my binoculars in just about every hunting situation in deer hunting. Seeing fields of 250 yards from a house, hunting a woods road from a treestand, watching a fresh cutover, etc. I doubt I’ll ever spend upwards of 1k on a pair… but then again if feedback from people on the forum warrant that consideration, I might take a look at a higher end pair.

You should be able to find a used pair of Swarovski SLC's in 10x50 or 8x42 for $1K. I believe that's the route I would go.

Last year my 10×50 Leupold Olympic's fogged up one morning. I sent them back to Leupold in February and they called to let me know that the Olympic's were discontinued. They asked if I would be satisfied with a pair of the Santiam BX 5 HD's. I jumped on that and asked for a pair of 8x42's. They are crisp and clear and excellent in low light. You can get a pair for around $800.

The larger the objective lens the more light they will gather, all else being equal. But most folks don’t want to lug around 56mm binos for deer hunting in AL.

For the $ these would serve you very well- https://www.eurooptic.com/zeiss-conquest-10x42-hd-binocular.aspx

Check out the Meopta Optika line of binos. Fantastic binos, very clear with minimal light and the 8x42’s can be had for under $400 shipped.

You’ll want 50mm or more for lots of light.

10x50 is what I use. You pay for what you get in general.

I have a pair of vortex Diamondback 10x42 that I’m happy with. Somebody’s had them for $129 on Black Friday sale.
