Yes it depends on why they are doing it. If they are yelling something about hunting or just honking the horn or playing loud music it can absolutely be hunter harassment. Well let me back up. I know that’s the law in several other states. I don’t know the specifics about Alabama. But I would think it would be the same.

I’m pretty certain that’s hunter harassment. You can do what you want on your own property, right up until it affects somebody on their property. If they were riding by, playing music, drinking beer, then there’s no problem there. Stopping and yelling and cranking up the music is something different and you need to be calling the warden and videoing it every time it happens.

If you have a buddy who will buy the land from the crazy people, get your friend and develop this plan carefully. Its 2024 and anything is possible. Your buddy recently had emotional issues and he transitioned from redneck deer hunter into something else. Your buddy recently transitioned to a full blown PETA loving botanical garden expert who is also a history and climate freak with an eye towards long term preservation and protection against hunters. Once the property is sold at a discount to the preservationist peta freak who hates deer hunters, then you can change hats right in front of them and smile like a shucks-eating possum.

Seriously, if they are doing what you say they are doing, it shouldn’t be hard to put some evidence together to support your claim.

I was in a club that was bordered on three sides by a single land owner. Very wealthy man. His wife was an animal lover and artist that painted wildlife so she was very anti hunting. He built a dirt road right off the property line and would ride it EVERY afternoon, pretty much doing the same thing. It hurt the hunting for a while but the deer got used to it and didn’t pay much attention to him after a while. He took it a little further though and if he saw one of us on our side, as he passed by, he would stop and get off his 4 wheeler and find “something” to fidget with. I just started removing my hunters orange when I heard him coming and put it back on after he passed.

Tannerite about 30yds from the fence on your side. When he stops and cranks the music, light it up!!! He’ll be busy for a few days trying to get the ringing out of his ears and chit outa his clothes to fool with you. Or you could just not hunt so close to the fence. Plan A would be way more fun to watch.

If they are doing it regularly the deer will be used to it. My wife and I ride around my place pretty much every evening and , the does at least ,are very tolerant of us. Several times we had does see us come into a plot and actually graze toward us. A couple of times they have been within 50 feet of us and the dawg in a running Ranger and walk right by us.

Start playing loud music when they're trying to sleep. Tell them you'll stop when they stop.

Do you think if the harasser in question put a loud speaker 10 steps from the line , pointing off his property , played Polka music full blast all day would be hunter harassment?

Raven, do the harassers live on the property? If so how far from the property line?

Maybe tell them that you are going to make it your deer carcass disposal area if you can’t come to terms.

Dump a bunch of roofing tacks all over the road they’re using, they might eventually get tired of plugging tires

Nope, not true. In Alabama, hunter harassment is defined as knowingly or intentionally interfering with someone's legal hunting or fishing activities. This includes:
Preventing, obstructing, or disturbing someone's hunting or fishing
Creating a visual, aural, olfactory, or physical stimulus to affect the behavior of a wild animal or fish
Affecting the condition or location of personal property used for hunting or fishing
Entering or remaining on public land or private land without permission to disrupt someone's hunting or fishing
A person who violates these laws can be charged with a Class B misdemeanor. For a second or subsequent offense, the punishment can include:
A fine of at least $2,000
A year-long revocation of hunting license privileges
A minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 30 days in county jail.

This section of law reflects Alabama's hunter harassment provisions. Under the section, no person shall willfully and knowingly prevent, obstruct, impede, disturb, or interfere with, or attempt to prevent, obstruct, impede, disturb, or interfere with any person who is legally hunting or fishing. Prohibited activities include creating a visual, aural, olfactory, or physical stimulus intended to affect the natural behavior of the wild animal being hunted or fish for the purpose of fishing, or affecting the condition or location of personal property intended for use in the hunting or fishing. Any person violating this article is guilty of a Class C misdemeanor.
