Anyone got a 10’ (or close to it) ceiling fan in their shop they’d recommend? I’m looking to put one large fan in my 30’x46’ shop, with the intent to have that one fan move enough air in the summer that it’s bearable to be out there. What I’m not going to do is buy the “Big Ass” brand that costs $4k for a ceiling fan.
Thoughts?

They got 100"-120" fans on Amazon for $350 -$700. That what I found on a quick peak look.

When I got mine about a year ago, it was $319, but when we pulled the trigger on ordering it, it was on sale and tax and all out the door was less than $290. LOVE it!!! You're welcome!

DOA, thanks for the recommendation. I’d looked at that one and was considering it. Given the personal recommendation, I think I’ll give it a try. 👍 Shop is not insulated, cause I don’t plan to spend a whole lot of time out there.

'Huntress rehabs and refinishes antique furniture in our shop, and she spends a lot of time having to turn it off because she'll have fresh paint or stain on one project, and sanding another project...can't have those two things mixing! L

I got a 10 footer for my barn a couple years ago. Can't remember the brand or the website I bought it from but it's got 5 speeds and an auto off timer. So far it's done well. Seems like I paid 650 for it.

Yep, I'm in your corner. My shop is well insulated and has upstairs storage with a door at the bottom. I have two windows cracked and the door open at the bottom of the stairs in summer. I have vents and windows open upstairs in Summer, it "draws" good. When it's really hot , I work out there and don't open the big garage doors. I found the longer I utilize the cool air in there from the temp drop at night the better.

I have found that leaving all the shop doors closed with a floor based large fan is the way to go. I would much rather circulate the air already inside than let the draft pull 98 degree air in. I can notice a 12-15 degree temp drop if I am outside then walk inside. morning or late evening is fine to open the big doors. 3,100 sq ft spray foamed with no air conditioning.
My building where I work has a 2400 sq ft shop, there is a 12 ft Big ass fan. It pushes a lot of air, but it's just circuiting hot air since it's near the ceiling. It's great if it's not that hot out and you want a little breeze. Useless in the summer if you ask me. Much better keeping all the doors shut with a floor fan.

We're a foundry. We are normally 10F above ambient year-round. About 15 years ago, we installed a Big Ass Fan over our grinders. The guys love it in the winter and hate it in the summer. The problem is with the air in the ceiling being hot. Regardless of which direction we run the fan, it seems to parch the guys by flowing hotter air by them. What our guys love are the Port-A-Cool fans. We just can't put them in very many places.

The porta cool fans are nice, but they do tend to cause a lot of rust. Not cheap either.
