Looking at that I realized that if you have students that are taking a Gov't of Civics class and the term gerrymandering comes up, you can just show them the AL map and how Terri Sewell's district is set up with the offshoot up the interstate so it can include B'ham.
When I was in school we were taught gerrymandering was wrong and illegal. I guess it just depends on who it favors, which truthfully, I don't have too much heartburn over this since I do believe in representative governance. I'm looking forward to the day when we can kiss racial politics goodbye and base our votes on beliefs and values. I think yesterday showed that we are beginning to move in that direction.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

That's another issue the left will not let go. They keep bringing it up to divide the country. Everyone should look up the video with Morgan Freeman being interviewed by Don Lemon about racism.

As someone unfortunately stuck in Sewell's district, I wish gerrymandering was illegal. It isn't. Racial gerrymandering is illegal except to comply with the VRA, when it is required. That's what happened with AL-2 this year. I'm with you, I wish we would just take race out of it.

I know this won't be popular here, but the New York Times has one of the best tracking/prediction systems out there on election night. Go to their home page, scroll down, and there is a map with races that are outstanding. You can hover and see vote counts. Most are in California, which takes weeks to count sometimes.
