Lightweight Block & tackle pulley System, commercial Garbage bags, High Quality Bird vest to carry the bagged Meat. Hack saw blade & Sharp Knife. I de-bone everything i clean. Pack em out is the only way to go when your deep in the woods / hills!

Both my hunting buddies that got Jet Sleds thanked me later. Get a Jet Sled and attach a cheap shoulder harness (like you get with a stand purchase) to the rope and leave it on there. Easy Peasy

the answer is a 6-1", 222lb grandson at yer beck and call. This is the right answer.  Outback used to tout a portable, lightweight sled that I think you can find on Amazon using this search phrase: Deer Drag Sled Game Glide It's about $35 or so and has plenty of grommets to attach rope, zip-ties, etc.

I only shoot does where I can drive up to them. Shoot bucks big enough I don’t care what it takes. Try to always hunt uphill.

Can’t use them even to retrieve game on the main places I hunt. Helicopter or I would get a new place to hunt. 😂 I’m too lazy to be dragging a deer more than 50 yards. If it’s longer than that it better be a stud.

Don’t need a saw to take a deer apart. All I need is a good 3-4” fixed blade knife and about 45 mins. Won’t be anything laying there but a hide and a pile of guts and bones.
I’ve gutted a pile of deer but never deboned one. I’m going to have to get proficient at it.

The last time i drug a deer up a hill, i said i wouldnt shoot another one unless theres a trail for my mule or 4 wheeler real close. So far ive stuck to that. I generally make good shots and back my truck up to them and pull them up in the back of it

I don’t usually hunt further than 2 miles from car or boat but I started packing them out 2/3 years ago and won’t go back. I use the gutless method and a small Eberlestock or KUIU frame or internal frame pack. You want a frame pack if you’re hauling more than 50lbs. With all my gear my pack ends up bending 70-80 with gear and layers.
This is pretty close to the Warren Womack method. Deer laying on its side trace down the neck and spine and down the back of back leg and front of the front leg. Peal and skin the skin down uncovering the 1/2 neck 1/2 backstrap and 2/4 quarters. Remove the meat and reach in and grab out the tenderloins. Remove the front and kind leg and stuff in bag. Warren Womack goes ahead and debones but I leave it on the leg. Bag for neck roast loins, and backstrap, bag for quarters. Flip the deer over and do the same on the other side. Attach it to the pack and walk it out. The only meat left is the rib meat but I don’t usually get much meat off them anyway.

I don’t usually hunt further than 50 yards from where I can take a 4 wheeler or sxs. I don’t mind walking, I walk a ton during turkey season, but I’m not dragging a deer or carrying one that far.

I only hunt public land so I can't drive up and I'm usually at least 1-2 miles from my vehicle. I dragged a few and switched last season to packing them out. I only need four things. A few trashbags, a 90qt military style ruck sack, a good skinning knife and a pair of pliers if I want to open up the sternum a bit. I leave proof of sex attached to one quarter and pack it out. Even if I got a huge buck and had to make two trips much easier than dragging even with a cart, sled, or buddy. It also will cool down the meat much faster than throwing it in the bed of a truck for the ride home or to the processor.
The best part is once I get home it's straight to aging in a cooler or my fridge for a week until I need to debone.

I don’t shoot them nowhere I can’t drive up to them. Screw dragging one a half mile uphill and out of hollers. No thank you. X1000000000 I prefer retrieving them with the tractor/loader. Just scope em up. 😁

heck, I didn't tell al of the story. He drug it down a steep ridge to an opening. I went and got the truck, backed it up to the buck. Dylan held the deers antler and jumped up on the tailgate and in one motion snatched the 250+ pound buck into the bed BEFORE I could get out of the truck to help. I kinda got on him....he said not a problem POP...I got it. 16 years old, 6' and 190 pounds. Football lineman, weight lifter, Marine Recon training. Not on my best day......
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Back in the day, I was the kid my uncle called to pull his deer out of hollows in Oregon. Now I'm 70 and don't have a kid to call on, so I hunt where it's easier to retrieve. If I needed to pack out, I would use the de-boning method shown on a DVD available from Kentucky Afield at https://secure2.kentucky.gov/Invent...uct/16ac1a61-71c1-4a7f-90a6-d8e5866a2d76It's a $13 DVD that I've been following for years. It starts with field dressing the deer, then completely de-boning it while hanging, then butchering the meat at home into select cuts. I use the 4-wheeler to get the deer to my skinning rack and drive home with nothing but meat. With a portable gambrel and winch you could do the same thing anywhere in the boonies and just carry out meat, proof of sex, and the head if you want it.
