I know this is silly but I’ve never had any kind of game cart or pack out method. I’ve just gutted them and started dragging. If I knew the terrain was too steep or to far from the truck I’ve called a buddy. After dragging 3 out of hollers last year, I’m done.
If you quarter and pack out, what system do you use? I want all the details, what backpack, game bag, knives etc do you have?
Is a sled a decent option? Game cart?
For what it’s worth I hunt hilly terrain.

Sled would be your best bet, cause anything with wheels in steep terrain can be a pain. Also, a ski rope with handle isn't a bad thing to have.

I cut em up where they lay and pack em out my friend. I carry a Badlands Superday pack. Debone him laying on the ground down one side, turn him over, and repeat. Meat in the main pocket of the pack in a lawn bag. Clothes and stand (if applicable) lashed to the outside of the pack. Head in one hand and gun in the other. Take it slow and take breaks sitting down and leaning against a tree to unload my back. Usually a creek crossing or two mixed in there too after exiting the hilly terrain. I’m 49 years old and still pulling it off without too much trouble. Guarantee you can too. I carry a couple pulleys and some rope, just in case I want to try and hoist and cape one I might want to mount but so far I have decided for all euros and just cut his head off. 😬🤣
I love coming out from the middle of nowhere in one trip and without anyone having to come in to help me. We’re usually all locked in and rut hunting hard so I hate to ask someone to give up their hunting time to come help me.

Glens deer drag is lot easier than grabbing the horns - has a ski rope handle - easier to handle and get it up off ground - not hunched over as bad
But a holler would suck

Packing them out is the easiest way to go. Quarter up and put meat and head in garbage bags and it all fits in my pack. Walk out. Very easy. Zero chance I will ever use a sled or cart.

Last year I drug a buck about 600 yards and around 160’ up in elevation. Never again. I wanted to bring that buck back to life and let him run off.
For those that pack out, do you have a game processing kit you use? I figure I need a saw to cut bone.

find a waist safety belt . one that looped around your waist and tree . loop one end over your head across the shoulder other end around the deers head . lean forward use your body weight and walk . ive dragged a many out a long way with one .

If I down one on my place, it's all down hill (easy drag). But those plastic deer-sleighers work really good on leaves.

I carry a chain saw and cut me a path to deer! club I am in is steep hills, I only turkey hunt it and they are hard to get out!

One knife is all you need. I only use one blade to breakdown elk and mule deer on my Outdoor Edge.
