Really wish a faster twist than the std 1-12 was more common. I’d love to shoot the 55 gr TTSX from mine, but I think it requires either 1-8 or 1-9 to stabilize.
I know there are some newer rifles with a faster twist but if I need to re-barrel or buy new I’d probably choose a different cartridge Tikka made them with a 1/9 twist but they’re hard to find Pretty sure the Ruger Americans are 1-9 also. Purty sure mines a 1-10
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

I knew a guy who swore by one. He called it his “Neck Thumper”. He didn’t complain about it. But we was also a very good, calm, shot

Friend of mine who grew up in Idaho swears by his 22-250.

gun doc made up a 18” heavy barrel with a 1:10 for me last summer. it loves the 62gr tsx @ 3250 fps. multiple kills at 240-250. have found 1 bullet out of the 9 deer killed with that rifle last year, quartering to shot, lodged against the femur that it broke. perfect 4 petal expansion.
Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers.......... Si Robertson

I'm surprised at how many folks don't 'get' this. Only two ways to make a bullet spin faster. You either increase twist rate (which can only be done by swapping barrels), or you increase the velocity. Sometimes you can make a bullet shoot out of a rifle it's not supposed to stabilize in by maxing out the velocity. I shoot 107 gr bullets out of a factory 243 barrel and 65 gr bullets in a factory 223, both Remington 700s with relatively slow (varmint) twist barrels. I have to max those mothers out, but they will shoot very well. On paper, they aren't supposed to pull this off... reality says differently.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?
