Well, I guess I don't know anything about deer hunting. And I guess, according to you, I Suck too.

I'll just get back to eating my bowl of deer chilli.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Someone needs to write a computer program to keep up with GC numbers on a daily basis.......It would be interesting to be able to compare where we are on any given day to years past........This has been the slowest start to a season that I can remember in the last 10 years

I got more deer n clarke than i ever seen and a lot of mature and a handful of studs - about 1/2 dozen shooters

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self

More podcasts and YouTube channels about hunting would help us all out.

The first week or two of bow season has been pretty consistent for the last few years……Everyone has some deer coming to a corn pile or feeder for several weeks leading into the season opener and then you get a flurry of arrows being slung at them for the first couple weeks no matter what……resulting in a flurry of tracking calls. This year its dramatically different and its not just me seeing it…..A lot of counties down here haven’t even reached 1% of last year’s buck harvest yet…..meaning that there isnt chit getting shot right now……Maybe it’s just the perfect storm of bad environmental conditions with the full moon we had to start off followed by warm weather…….

CNC, up here, the start of bow season has been unreal. Ppl are killing BIG bucks, lots of them, and seeing as many or more deer than ever. It’s weird how it can be so different in different regions.

“Patterns” have a tendency to start showing themselves very quickly…….so just for chits and giggles I went ahead and put the numbers on a map…..Instead of just comparing the start of this season to last year’s total I used the average of the last four years’ totals……Yes its still really early but the pattern that is emerging is setting up just like I was suspecting it would in the original post of this thread. We shall see where it goes from here………

So far so good for me. I’ve been seeing quantity and quality this year. Typically I’d have pulled off my personal place by now to let it rest until January, but they have remained consistent even with the pressure. It’s shaping up to be a memorable season.

Chuckles better hurry up and get those tags issued before the buck hunting completely tanks……This sucks.

Just out of curiosity and with nothing else to do I went ahead and made a map showing the doe harvest as well……Pretty interesting that a county like Blount has already killed 15% of their annual doe harvest. I guess zone c folks gotta get after ‘em while they can…..Of course keep in mind also that zone b in the far southern portion of the state just opened doe season 4 days ago

So you would think that whatever impact baiting was going to have would play out in the first 3-4 years of it being legalized and that would be that…..BUT…….thanks to the way we’ve educated the public on “buck to doe ratios and how to fix them”…..I don’t think that’ll be the case…..

I’ve said this before but I’ll throw it out there again…….I think you’re going to get an initial impact on the buck populations in the first several years but once hunters start seeing fewer bucks, more late born fawns, weaker ruts, less opportunities, etc…etc…..they are going to start hammering the does and in doing so create a second wave of impact/change…..I think that’s the phase we’ve probably entered…..South Alabama hunters shot the chit out of does last year compared to normal for some reason…..Either hunter attitude changed or there was a big influx of additional hunters......either way a bunch more does got shot.....which most likely is going to result in less bucks being produced.....

Updated map for bucks and does……This is just watching the harvest come in week by week ……You can see where the bulk of the harvest is or isnt occurring right now…..most of it being in North Alabama up to this point……Again this is the % of the annual total that has already been killed…..

Cnc I started trapping beavers again. Number 32 died yesterday I love picking at you about habitat. Now that i have the best habitat you could ask for like it was 25 years ago I shall add to the game check numbers. Wife and I hunted first 2 days of bow season seen 17 deer. Been working for deer and duck hunters ever since but should be done this week. It is a joy to pull up on some farms that you would love to hunt and make it better habitat. I want ever be Matt Brock but he probably enjoys parts of his job as much as hunting.

First time in a club in 10 years. It will be a success whether I kill one or not. Just sitting by the fire drinking cold beer/whiskey with good company I can’t wait 👍
