4-2-5 may not be the "base " defense; but teams run 5 DB's a LOT against current offenses.

Qb pressure and punishing the quarterback wins football games nothing cheap or dirty but letting the qb feel pain everytime he goes left or right equals a W.

Hell they call a penalty now if you exhale too hard within 5 yards of the QB. They got Bama for roughing the passer last weekend because the D Lineman threw his hands in the air to try and bat the pass down and when he brought his hands down he grazed the QB’s face mask with his open hand. Other than that he didn’t touch the guy. Roughing the passer? Really? If I’m going to get that call I’m getting my moneys worth and the QB would be peeling himself off the turf.

Do that too hard and you’ll be on the sideline for the rest of the game. College protects the qb more than nfl does. I saw some of those nitpicky roughing the passer calls.

That was a very cheap call. There was no intent to rough the QB.

My question to all the diehard Bama fans, After watching Alabama over the last couple weeks, do you think they actually have a chance at Tenn? (like them or not, that is a hard place to play) It looks to me Alabama has taken a step back after the Georgia game or the opposing teams have totally figured out how to attack Bama’s defense.

UT by double digits. Josh Heipel will destroy that defense we have. He’s playing chess. We playing Candy Land. Bingo!! You know it’s bad when former players are so critical of the defensive scheme. If the offense plays like they did against Georgia, it could be a horse race but that Tenn offense is going to embarrass the alabama D. Based on what? Their 312 yards and 27 points against the 87th ranked defense in the country? Scary stuff. Based on 3 things, 1) Neyland Stadium, thats a hard stadium to play in…2) Alabamas defense has been underwhelming at best…3) The Tenn QB can sling it, and Bama’s weakness is in the secondary. We’ll see, I honestly hope Bama wins but its going to be a tough one.

one MAJOR x factor in this game most people may not know about.......William Inge who is now our LB coach at Tennessee, was Deboer's DC at Washington.

Take that 4-2-5 number and throw it out the window. Hybrid players blend responsibilities nowadays.

Tennessee is 18-8 at Neyland since 2020 with 11 of the 18 wins against FCS or Group of 5 competition. True, but they are a talented group but not playing well at the moment. Their QB has 1200 yards or so and a 2-1 TD to Int ratio. He feasted early on the Akrons of the world to drive up his numbers. He had 169 yards and an INT against Florida (who has the 70th ranked Pass D). I’m not saying Tenn isn’t going to win but you are severely inflating their talent level.

I’m not trying to inflate their talent level, just have zero confidence in Alabama’s defense. Especially the 3rd down defense. Tenn runs very fast pace, that seems to confuse the Alabama defense.

You and I have something in common brother. I won’t go as far as to say “zero” but I have little confidence they will right the ship by Sat.

I would like to see Alabama win but the last 2 weeks have shown some pretty big problems. I’m happy either way because I’ve never let my happiness depend on what 18-23 year olds do on Saturday. I’m flying to Alberta to duck hunt in the morning so I’ll be happy with whatever happens
