My family has had property on the Warrior in 2 separate camps, where the club owns the property and we own the structure, so that's not uncommon. I've had it insured by several places, so I just don't think it's that big a hurdle. Don't we have an insurance guy as a sponsor? Brandon? Rux Carter Insurance out of Columbiana has mine right now.
I'm guessing that for a cabin in the woods, distance from water mains, quality and distance of fire department, lack of a constant presence on site, potential for malicious activity, etc, the bill is going to be high for what you get, compared to a house in town, and your agent is just trying to get out of it.
