about took me out. Or at least felt like it. Maybe i'm about over it. At least got some good drugs to help with it. Second one ever. First one wasn't near as bad.

FIL has one or two a year.. poor guy has tried EVERYTHING but take his kidneys out to fix it.

I have begged them to take my right kidney out. My Nephrologist said it is like a sponge and not working adequately. Last year was my easiest year with 9 stones. Even when you have them regularly, they DO NOT get any easier.

They are hell, wouldn't wish on anyone

I just spent two days in the hospital for a 7mm stone that wouldn't pass. I had the lithotripsy procedure done to smash the stone so the
Pieces can pass. That was the worst pain that I have ever experienced.

Had one that was 10mm, had litho done and hell afterwards

Passed one a couple days ago and it was a little larger than a BB

1st one I ever got I stepped out my truck to piss in a field, and literally thought I had been shot. Dropped to my knees tallywhacker and all hanging out and crawled back in the truck and went to doctor. Told them I was dying. Pissed blood for a few days and now I feel them coming on take some Flomax and drink some cheap beer and hope I'm numb enough to not feel it as bad.

8 Oz. Cold water two tablespoons organic vinegar two tablespoons lemon juice one tablespoon extra virgin olive oil. Yes it's nasty but the acids will melt the salts that makeup kidney stones and make easier passage.

I had Litho on a 9mm and all was fine until a piece got hung up between my kidney and bladder. Worst pain I've ever dealt with was needing to pee but not being able to. Dilaudid (sp?) was the only way I made it until surgery to push it back into my kidney and another Litho a week later. I wasn't a fan of the stent that week with wires hanging out my business. The Dr. said I could go back to work with the stent and I told him BS as I had plenty of Sick and Annual leave available. The best words I've ever heard was sitting in the giant tub, high as a kite, hearing the Litho Dr. say "We pulverized it this time". Not a problem since. I even talked them into pulling out the stent while I was still numb from the waist down. One of the funniest stories is hearing Chuck Utsey from Selma describe having a stent and deciding to pull it out himself. Long story short, about half way out he ended up in the ER as you can imagine.

I kept my big one. It broke into 3 pieces after litho. They’re about the diameter of a nickel.

I passed one on the side of Hwy280 back in July. I hope whoever owns/leases that property doesn’t have a gate camera or they probably got more than they bargained for when they checked that batch of pics. No tracking dog needed with that blood trail.

I have them also. Doc said one kidney is filled with and size stones. For the past two years I've drink lemonade, i was told the acid in lemons help break down one type of stone and it seems to work. If I feel like one is moving (getting the pain in back over kidney) I'll get some simply lemonade and add four or five good sqirts of real lemon juice to it and drink it down. I can feel the pain reduce within a hour or so.

God bless you folks who deal with this.My best friend is plagued by those things.Never forget one evening I heard a horn honk out front and he was out front. Get out to truck and he is doubled up in crazy pain and he isn’t a wimp. Got him into passenger side barely and to hospital. He showed me one he passed in his shower and shared the story of the experience lol he is a funny guy and may have embellished some but made me dang glad I don’t deal with that. Darn thing looked like a full grown sand spur.

Don’t wish em on my worst enemy. Them bigger ones will have a grown man damn near in tears

For those that have never experienced one, I'll try to describe the pain for you. First off, not all of them hurt badly. From my understanding, if they don't move in your Kidney, it isn't too bad. Mine started when I was riding a lawn mower and it obviously got dislodged from where it was resting nicely in my right Kidney. I thought it was initially some kind of back pain. I finished the grass and went inside to lie down hoping it would go away. First indicator, lying nor any other position diminishes the pain. After awhile I got up to pee and out came brown. That is when I began to suspect a stone. It was a Friday afternoon so I went and called a nurse I knew in the ER. I told her that I was peeing blood and she asked me questions. I had a Sinus infection a few days prior and she said that could possibly be the reason for the blood but she encouraged me to come in if I felt I needed to. It only got worse from there so I got my wife to drive me to the ER. When I told them that the pain was severe and began in my right side and wrapped around towards the front down to my groin they felt pretty sure it was a stone. They loaded me up with Demerol but not the anti nausea meds. They took me to X-Ray and had me stand up to take one and I puked all over the floor before I could find a garbage can. Anyways, that is where my month long stone odyssey began. That and the time I mentioned earlier when part of it got caught between my kidney and bladder were when the pain was the worst. After surviving the initial weekend my Dr. recommended a Urologist in Montgomery. He's the one that ordered the first Lithotripsy. He said after that that if I have anymore trouble to skip Selma ER and go straight to Jackson in Montgomery where he rotates call. Well, my second flair up was on a Friday afternoon so my wife and MIL took me over there. I learned that Dr. Davis was on call but his mother had passed away so he was in N.C.. A Dr. Larussa, an OB/GYN was covering for him. Dr. Larussa first introduced himself and asked if I had a problem with him treating me. At that point anyone that can push drugs was good enough to treat me. He explained that he was very familiar with treating pain in that part of a body and he ordered Dilaudid saying it worked better on that type pain. I did have them push anti nausea stuff first. After the Dilaudid kicked in I was knocked out only to be awoken by a man in scrubs asking me if I had acid reflux and if I had ever had problems with anesthesia? I answered and then asked what was going on? He said "No one has talked to you?" I told him I had been out of it and he said, "Well, you'll be in surgery in about 15 minutes." Back to the pain, the reason so many compare it to childbirth pain is that it is so bad that it clouds your memory of it. If women had clear vivid recollections of how bad childbirth hurt, they wouldn't be eager to do it again. I recall the pain being a dull crippling pain but can't recall exactly how it felt except at the very start. Just remember if you ever find yourself with a stone, Dilaudid worked better than the Demerol and stay away from Aspirin. They have to wait a week to do Lithotripsy after you've taken aspirin or any other blood thinner. This delayed me getting the first Litho.

Im very sorry, yes the pain is excruciating. I had my first and only one so far about a year and a half ago. Man it came out of nowhere and was like trying to piss a watermelon for 72 hours. I was doubled over with pain but went to work anyways. This lasted about 3 days worth and I guess I finally passed it. I never went to the Dr but guess I should have....yeah Im stupid like that, lol Man that thing hurt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lithotripsey is a wonderful thing! Had it today and much much better. Dont wait to pursue the procedure.

Had them for years, bad news everytime.
