Aren’t there many other ports between Maine and Texas that we could use as a back up? They report forty ports shutting down. Surely that’s not the only major ports in our country. (But I have no idea) East Coast, West Coast, Great Lakes, and Inland ports on the rivers (Montgomery, St. Louis, Shreveport, etc..) .

I understand the guy has a fiduciary duty to the union, but telling the American people you're gonna intentionally cripple the economy while wearing a bunch of gold jewelry isn't the best look for the unions. https://x.com/EndWokeness/status/1840978352997306404Phuck that dude, he needs his pc of shat head caved in.

This could make the shortages due to Covid seem like a small blip. This has the potential to absolutely cripple the country.

Heard on talk radio today this is the east coast longshoreman striking. Apparently the west coast union reached agreements last year and are currently working on as usual. Also it was said this arrogant union rep makes 1 mil year! While the actual workers are making 70k.

Let em strike! The less rosey things are between now and the election, the less likely folks are to vote for more of the same.

Anything made or grown across the water will be stopped. The supplies floating or on the docks now will be wasted.

Most of y’all are too young to remember the PATCO strike. What did Reagan do? He fired all 12000. I remember that well!!!! It took awhile to replace them, but turned out ok in the end.

I read where the president of the union at the Mobile port said most folks can’t do his job,he misses birthdays and anniversaries and even Alabama football games,is he so stupid to think that most folks with real jobs miss all of these things?Ive been on a shutdown at our mill and have had 1 day off since august,Everyone that works any kind of mill job or shift work are gonna miss things like that,it’s called stepping up and being a man and doing what needs to be done for you and your family. I’ve heard that the crane operator who has the most seniority has to turn down overtime first. They don’t and make over six figures a year. Ever gets to the newest guy.

All the West coast ports are open. This only affects Atlantic and Gulf, and there are still non-teamster companies keeping things going just slower. This is more tv than anything. Plus, governors can call in the guard to run the ports if they drag it out too long.

Pay for longshoremen is based on their years of experience. Under the ILA's former contract with USMX, which expired on Monday, starting pay for dockworkers was $20 per hour. That rose to $24.75 per hour after two years on the job and to $31.90 after three years, topping out at $39 for workers with at least six years of service.
The union is demanding a 77% raise over six years, or the equivalent of a $5 increase per hour for each year of the contract. Under the union's proposal, workers would make $44 for the first year of the contract, $49 for the second and up to $69 in its final year

40 year teamster! that guy is a POS!! Will you guys cross the picket line to get what’s sitting on the docks now, or y’all just comply with that POS also? Would you pick up loads at non union ports?
