It'll probably be a little quieter with the 16" barrel. But it's gonna be pretty long. I like the shorter 10.5" barrel suppressed.
But when in doubt, get both.

PSA had quite a few 300blk pistols in different barrel lengths, reasonably priced. Also had some Hornady subsonics at reasonable prices. I ordered a few boxes of them last nigh as well.

Now youre getting into a bunch of stuff i know absolutely nothing about.

What is the science behind shorter barrel=quieter?

He was saying the 16" on the gun you ordered will be quieter than his preference of the 10.5". Shorter is definitely louder
Your omega can will work fine on that gun

It’s fine to run the can on the AR. My intent was to let you know to not be surprised if the AR doesn’t function properly with the can on it. So you could contemplate spending more $ upfront on an AR with an adjustable gas block or get a flow through suppressor designed specifically for ARs.

Google “AR won’t cycle with suppressor” and you’ll find plenty of reading material.

Correct. The gas won't be quite as hot in the 16 at the muzzle.
And the sound will be further from the ear. Not sure how much of a difference it would be down range though

I have an ar pistol with a 7" barrel. I shot it one time. I though i might have busted my eardrum. I put it up and never shot it again. Maybe the can would help it?

It'll definitely help.
The blackout uses pistol powder so it burns faster and loses less velocity in shorter barrels compared to other calibers.That really only matters if you shoot supers though.

Let us know how them Hornady subs do.
You probably know this , but a lot of folks tape or use different mags for the blackout. Just so they don't load the wrong mag in the 556. Especially if your youngins shoot them.
I almost messed up the other day. Think I'm gonna use tape till I get my mags sorted out.

Ive got a white marker i been marking my extra mags with. I also ordered a 10rd mag for it. Im intending on using this gun on a little night hunting, predators, coons and armadillos. Doubt ill ever shoot it alot. Probably 100yds and in. The ammo i bought was about $.80/rd. I hope it works out well. Ill let you know. I dont shoot as much as most gun lovers, i guess. I just really like guns. I get an idea in my head and wont quit thinking about it till i do it. If i want to do something like killing some coyotes or armadillos, i would just like to be able to. Ive got an armadillo tearing up one of my foodplots pretty bad. He will be my first victim.

It'll work good for that. The first AR i bought was a blackout rifle. Still use it for hog hunting.
