Line has moved to pick em'
now a favorite at some places.
Just means that they had too many bets coming in on Bama at +3.5 and they needed additional money placed on GA. Has nothing at all to do with who Vegas really thinks will win. It is Vegas's goal to have the betting on every game at 50/50 when the game starts. Initial odds are what Vegas really thinks the score will be and what it will take to get an equal $$ amount of bets on both teams. Odds movement reflects their reaction to actual betting trends and Vegas moves the odds if they are getting too much money bet on one side of the equation. This late odds movement is what they call "Balancing the Books". That is why you see some books now favoring Bama and some at a pick'em. Each book is moving their odds to the extent that they have to, in order to get the bets that they are holding as close to that perfect 50/50 split, as they can before kickoff. They pay the winners with the loser's money and keep a small percentage for themselves in the form of a book fee or what they refer to as the vig which is really where they make their consistent money. The original GA -3.5 is still where their algorithms say the numbers should be in order to give both sides a 50/50 shot of winning. They are just evening up both sides of their ledgers at this point.
