Mine went at 28,000. I swore that would be the last GM product in my yard

GM would go broke if they had to guarantee that transmissions and lifters would not go out under 100,000. The lifters are a bigger problem than the transmissions in our area, particularly for problems under 100,000.

Buddy had a 1500 that if he towed two four wheelers and gear to Huntsville he’d have to put a quart of oil in it each way.
Engine went out at just over 100000. If he hadn’t have complained several times about it they wouldn’t have covered the replacement.

The 6 speed transmission has a tendency to run too hot. The torque converter is the weak link. Heat breaks down fluid prematurely and destroys the converter. Metal fragments in turn wreck the transmission.

Well, the foreign cars are only slightly better. If it’s assembled outside of Japan, they all have issues IMO.

Between chitty workers and EPA crap, it’s really hurt reliability.

I’m on #2 trans

87000 miles on the first. 2500 gas. Bought new in sept 2020. Towed my aluminum fishing boat. Mostly just road miles

$6k to fix it. Chevrolet put the same POS 6 speed back in

Not happy

The first one failed in my silverado at 74,000 miles. The second failed at 150,000. Traded the truck for my tundra. Best decision I ever made regarding that pos.

The vacuum pump also failed, it had the AC condenser leak issue which was replaced, two electrical issues that I fixed because warranty wouldn’t, and I’m sure I’m forgetting something.

The engine/ transmission combo in that thing is pathetic. My 2019 tundra with the 5.7L will pull a 21’ ranger boat behind it like it’s not there. The Silverado I had would groan and moan pulling it on flat ground something horrible. Just no guts in them.

Dang .. you guys have me scared to drive home this afternoon! I have a 2017 1500 Chevy Z-71 ... I have 106k on it ... just drove to Virginia and back over the weekend. I am afraid to say that I haven't had any issues with it... because if I do it might explode when I walk out to the parking lot this afternoon!

Dang, I thought the transmission in the 2500 was beefier and thus better. Guess they all suck.
