JD 310 or 410 is solid and so are the cats. Ran a case 580 back in the 80s it was solid

I really am thinking I have no real need for a full size hoe. I do not dig daily or weekly or even monthly. It really does not make financial sense but I am just sick to death of renting equipment and for what it is costing now and the ever increasing hoops you have to jump through to get the equipment I need, purchasing may not make good financial sense for me but it's making more and more sense all the time.

I've ran them all and sold some too. I don't like the newer case machines. They seem to operate light to me. I believe a JD 310 is the best rubber tire hoe ever made. With that said, being a plumber, if you dig in house pads, I would really think about a mini ex. In my opinion the smaller back hoes are junk. Maybe it's just because I am used to bigger stuff, but I would really think hard about a mini ex. Then rent a skid steer or a little loader if you need to move some material a little ways. I've been ditch digging off and on for 25 years. I would rather have a 15k lb mini that anything else.

I ran a Kubota mini-ex, KX040, for about 40 hours when we dug our pond. Absolutely loved it, and wish I could have afforded to keep it.

Kind of like a rifle in .257 Roberts. Performs way better than it could be expected to.
