Cleaning out the house for the move I found one that was given to me in 1990. It was only for $50. It now worth $125 and some change. Think I will keep it for awhile.

I was given a $100 US savings bond when I was 7 for winning an art contest. I haven’t checked on it since. That was 32 years ago.

Dont get your hopes up too high. You can look them up by serial number online. Its on the Dept of Treasury website. I found two $100's after my mother passed made out to me as a high school graduation present from my deceased aunt. Never knew I had them.
Cashed them in 31 years later and they had barely doubled but $420.00 did buy a few groceries. Over the same 32 year period, that old Michael Jordan ball card bought a used car.

Probably quit paying interest at 30 years. Might want to check it out.

Parents got me one in $1980 when I was 10 for making straight A’s. I found it when I moved my Mom. I was thinking it would be worth a bunch! What a disappointment! Now if they had bought Apple stock, I would be shopping for a yacht right now!

Savings Bonds
EE bonds
1980 through April 1995
EE bonds interest rates for bonds issued from 1980 through April 1995

EE bonds earn interest until the first of these events: You cash in the bond or it reaches 30 years old. Therefore, many of these bonds have stopped earning interest.

If you moved your EE bond into a TreasuryDirect account, we pay you for the bond as soon as it reaches 30 years and stops earning interest.

If you still have a paper EE bond, check the issue date. If that date is more than 30 years ago, it is no longer increasing in value and you may want to cash it. See Cashing EE and I savings bonds.

To find out how much your paper EE savings bond is worth, use our Savings Bond Calculator.

Savings bonds are not a good investment. I found that out years ago. My mother purchased my kids some every time she turned around. 20 yrs later my daughter used hers to buy a bedroom suit and my son just cashed them out. Maybe 1 1/2 to 2 times face value.

Also, the payback rate on those bonds really hits the idea of how inflation works. My Aunt bought those bonds for $100, 31 years later I got $420. 31 years ago, $100 went a very long way, Today $420 is a single buggy of groceries at Walmart
