I'd suggest checking the air filter. My mower has a kawasaki also, a few years ago, it acted like it had no power, would really die going uphill. A new air filter solved my problem.
I’ll check that out. I was thinking coil packs at first but then I realized it’ll keep going if I give it full choke so now I don’t know what to think with it. May be a normal thing but grass is tall, but not thick enough that I think it should overheat the mower.
