I looked to see if OnX has been discussed or not in "Search" but didn't see so. Anyway, I've had it with OnX not having quality satellite imagery. I've got the best OnX has to offer but the imagery still isn't as good as HuntStand. I don't want to switch from OnX to HuntStand, but I think I'm going to switch.

Before I do, is there a better choice? I know there are other hunting imagery apps, but I do like HuntStand, but I've used OnX in the past.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

I swapped from OnX to Spartan Forge and am satisfied with the imagery. They also have a pretty good movement and pattern predictor that I have found is somewhat accurate. Each has something I like over the other, but overall satisfied.

I pay for OnX and HuntStand. Can’t decide which one I like better. You can do a lot with HuntStand (on line stand check in, etc). The OnX UI is much more friendly. Never heard of Spartan Forge but I’m going to check it out because I haven’t found anything yet to do everything I want

I love OnX's software. But it aggravates me that HuntStand has MUCH better imagery than OnX. HOWEVER, HS's imagery is not up to date!!! Not even close. But damn, it's detailed!!! Spartan Forge...hmmmmmm, I'll check it out! As long as I can get property owners listed as that is a major requirement.

Just tried Spartan Forge... I liked what little I reviewed it, BUT... I have to have updated satellite imagery. It's not up to date as HuntStand. So, SF is out!

So I called OnX to ask them why their satellite imagery wasn't as good as HuntStand and whatdoyaknow.... Their staff is off for volunteer work today and they will be back tomorrow. I'll report more when I speak with OnX.

The best I have had is Base Map app. Has all the features you need and if you need help at any time their customer service returns e-mails really fast. I have had them for four years. Also has ONX but did not renew it this year

Huntstands imagery is more up to date and more detailed than OnX. They also have monthly satellite image overlay, it’s not as detailed but helps.

HuntStand has that monthly satellite option I like it if you are going into a public spot and not sure what is there.

HuntStand is far and away the better option. Many more features and much more capable. I cancelled my OnX subscription because I hated using it so much and because it literally melts my laptop and desktop when I try to use the online version.

This. HuntStand is amazingly detailed and can get monthly imagery at a lower resolution.

Kinda off topic but my HS maps are kinda dark. I have e mailed them but didnt really get a good answer. Any ideas how to brighten it up ? Its only on this app. On x is fine. I would probably prefer HS if I can figure this out

I ended up speaking with my old friend, Brian Murphy, who was Director of the QDMA for many years and now he works for HuntStand. Wow... HS is really doing some good stuff. So, I'm trying HS.

Right now, I'm getting frustrated with HS. I just don't think it's as intuitive as OnX. I'm still playing with it. We'll see.

Their plan looks interesting. I’ve got HS and like it but how often is Basemap updated on imagery?

At one time in the past OnX had the boundries of WMA's and HS didn't so I went with OnX. That may no longer be the case.
