Listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn's epic "Couldn't Stand the Weather" album. Dude was massively talented.
Who's your top guitarist and why? Be specific.
Just for fun, here's a Top 50 from Rolling Stone that covers all genres, and not just "rock":

Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke) is better than 3/4 of that list and the best guitarist in the game these days IMO.

Well all depends on your style of music. I like country bluegrass so my two are probably Don Rich and Clarence White. The way they play just does something for me, but I play and can appreciate all of them that are top notch. John 5 is another than can play about anything on a telecaster.

The fact that Chet Atkins isn't in the top 10 and Dickey Betts nor Mark Knopfler are even on the list makes me believe whoever pulled this list out of their anus has no credibility what so ever.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

Big Stevie Ray Vaughn fan. There are too many guitarist over the years to say best. Roy Clarke was way underrated!

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I guess I'd agree with most of that. Anyone that made the list is a great guitarist any way you look at it. That said, I would put Eddie VanHalen before Chuck Berry though, if for no other reason than I like the sound better. Both are excellent in their genre. I'd probably rate Stevie Ray Vaughn and David Gilmour a little higher too.

Many on the list have some pizzazz, but not top of the hill skill. Hard to not say EVH is the best. I don't think all genres were repped. Billy Strings is good too.

I think it’s a sin that Steve Gaines isn’t on that list.

Some of those are laughable. I do agree with BCLC on this one. Charlie Starr is very good. Several others left out such as Steve Gaines, Allen Collins, and Derek Trucks. Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke) is better than 3/4 of that list and the best guitarist in the game these days IMO.

And they have The Edge on the list. He was terrible early on and became serviceable but no way he's top 100 much less top 50.

Thank you! Roy Clark was very good too. Keith Richards is good but not top 20 and I’m a huge stones fan. Has some incredible licks and signature riffs though. How Alex Lifeson from RUSH is left off is insane. Prince should be top 5. Maybe top 3.

The fact that Richie Blackmore isn’t on the list destroys it’s credibility.
