Anyone use one of these companies before? Mom lives in a one bath house. I've tried to talk her into letting me redo the bathroom for her, but she doesn't want to be without it for multiple days. She's getting to the point where the bathroom needs to be more accessible for her age. Any recommendations in the Bham area appreciated.

It worked great for my MIL in her front bathroom. She did it through a Home Depot contract deal. Converted the 1980's tub into a walk in with new toilet and better pipe insulation work in the wall that nobody knew was bad. Complete job 1.5 days, mostly just to let the glue's and caulks dry properly. The cost was higher than DIY or standard contracting obviously but the time-turn-around convenience made it very much worth it for her.

We did one for my parents 20k$, they did a poor job on the install.
I chewed them up and told them we would stop payment, they came back and spent 8 more hours of working on it to make it correct.
Make sure to check and double check their work. We used bath fitter
Well, the way I see it is there's just too many assholes On a good day there's a bunch of assholes in here. On a bad day there's too many assholes in here.

I've never seen them done correctly, and make good money repairing their mistakes. Especially bathfitter...

Yeah. Figured most of these would be questionable. Durante is a local company that advertises for this. Hadn't considered Home Depot.

Do yourself a favor and just hire a good local contractor. An honest one can do it for a third of the price as the one day guys, though it’ll probably take them 3-5 days. Send mom on a vacation or staycation at a local nice hotel. You’ll still come out better and have a local guy to call up if you have any issues.

I did my daughter’s bathroom in a long weekend. Removed fiberglass surround, vent fan, sink, vanity. Replaced with real tub, tile surround, new vent with Bluetooth, new vanity and sink. Drywall repair and repaint. Looks excellent just a long weekend.

Might be a few more coins, but a really good plan. I only roke one shower door in my life before I realized that I was better off to just "Call the Man!"

I would suggest listing the area to have the work done, Birmingham is a big area. Then ask for recommendations. Some contractors will drive more or less depending on job size. Maybe call local real estate offices, building supply companies, or plumbing supply companies for references. Good chance if a 3rd party retailer is involved there may be another person to get a cut, raising the price.
