Joint account? You recon the hubby took out a loan and didn't tell her I'm thinking one of his buddies gave him a loan in her name and she wasn't the one who signed the note. There's a lot of stuff that goes into how and why this is being found out and I'm not going into that.

Have her check her credit report with all three credit bureaus When was the debt obtained. Under whose name. When was the last payment made? Something doesn't sound right. She is either a victim of identity theft or she is not being upfront with you. If it's on her credit report have her file a dispute as to the validity of the debt.

If she has past problems with debt in the past as/or bad checks bouncing, lack of payment or other payment problems, there is a national united system that the banks use. BUT normally the banks/credit cards will try reimbursement thru collection agencies. You need to have her with you when you go to the bank to find out what is going on or have power of attorney. But they will refuse to open account until past problems are resolved. As someone said Get a Credit report and you will know who/what made the debt And please be cool/ calm,,if you can.

The lone officer told her he couldn't tell her. She ask why , he couldn't tell her. This is odd as hell all she could find out was ,,,, I can't tell you.
I wasn't there so I dont know first hand . But next week I'll know . This , I can't tell you ,,,, will not fly with me . The loan officer couldn’t tell her because he didn’t know why she took out a loan.

Or if other persons were in the room. Law has gotten so picky with such things as privacy. Thats way I'm trying to tell Frankie to cool it and be and adviser or listener to what he can understand what is going on

Just play dumb and don’t say a word till the conversation gets going. Let them talk and you listen. If you hire a lawyer this is the exact attitude he will approach it on and believe me I know first hand. You will learn a lot more by listening than you will yelling

Some body at that bank knows who gave the loan. Some body knows what the loan was for . They can't just say I can't tell you .
I can't get any answers ill just turn my lawyer loose and let him make some money . In the end its up to her as to far we take it.
It ain't like the debt can't be paid .
And yes she gonna ask for copies of all documents. If they cant show proof of debt then there' is no debt .

I accidentally missed a Lowe's card payment. It had fell behind the rack. Get the next bill and notice. Of course they charged for late payment. OK. Next day I get a letter from their bank that tells me they closed my account and all owed was due upon receipt of said letter. Called them and told the to FK off I wouldn't pay them another dime.

Little advice... let sister handle this on her own. You're not on the account and the banks not gonna tell you a thing. When my mom passed she had 2 bank accounts at 2 different banks. She put me on one acct and my nephew on the other (did not know this at the time). I went to close them but the bank where the acct with my nephew was told me that they couldn't tell me anything about the acct other than i wasn't on the acct. We finally found moms online banking password and found that she had put my nephew on it. I met him at the bank one day and they told him everything about the acct but had to get his permission to allow me to hear what they were telling him
