I remember walking down the street in New York after midnight and feeling relatively safe.. I would say as safe as I have ever felt in any downtown of any big city. I have felt much less safe in downtown Birmingham.
That was a whole 7-8 years ago. To raise the bar.... It felt safer than B'ham when Rudi left office. Guliani got all the credit but it was actually Bill Bratton's work that made NYC safer in those days. To Guliani's credit though, he is the one that let Bratton run the PD and implement the ideas that made the crime drop.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
