I’m here. Mainly to find a call I left by a tree last week. If I hear anything that will be a bonus. Good luck y’all!

I haven’t been in a week. This is downright miserable. The no-see-ums have about ruined a good morning walk.

I hate cicadas, can't hear diddly squat. I had 2 gobblers gobbling in an open pasture at 100 yds and I could not hear them gobble. They eased off into a little head of woods and now I don't have a clue about where they are now Chucky can take the cicadas and his agenda driven May turkey hunting and put all of it where the sun don't shine

Last morning and I overslept, coming down the road a mile from my hunting spot, there he is! Monster long beard standing in the road, he just eased off through the cutover! I’m on my hunting grounds now, all I can hear are the cicadas. I hope he makes it another year, Robinhedd

Well, that’s a wrap for me. Nothing heard but cicadas down in bullock. I was out by 715. I didn’t find my call either so kinda bummed about that. Gonna check my lowndes place this weekend. Dang near hit a hen crossing the paved county road. She flew at the last second.

I gave up when the privet bloom kicked my allergies into overdrive. Still a few live gobblers but they are not saying much. A good year and the vocal birds I encountered were gullible.
Not sure if I will start trapping this weekend or plant a few small chufa plots. Turkey season never ends!!!

Went just because. Heard one turkey gobble 3 times about a half mile off. Farther than I wanted to drag my little 5 year old son in the sauna we’re currently living in. Let him call some and then we packed it up. Saw a strutter in neighbors cotton field with 2 hens. Little man was almost as excited to see that as he was when I killed a turkey earlier this year. He wouldn’t let me wipe the camo face paint off of him (refuses to wear a mask) when he went to school. Already heard him telling whoever would listen all about our morning as I dropped him off. He had fun, so that’s a success. My definition of success changed this year due to toting him around.
Only sat down on one turkey this year but killed him. Poor year on our place but kind of expected it after cutting most of our pines and adjacent property clearcut hardwood bottom that turkeys absolutely loved.

I have a son that is 3 and a daughter that is 2. Busy time right now, but I am looking forward to taking them both. They love checking the traps. Got to start them young. You are correct, your definition of success changes as you get older.

God is good! I've hunted them off and on for the past 5 years, killed my first bird this morning. Learned a lot this season and it finally paid off. Can't wait for next spring.
