I often think about which one I would have carried had I been there. I think I'd prefer the carbine because it's lighter and I could carry more ammo. The garand would have been miserable to carry. For the Pacific campaign, I think there would be even more benefits to the carbine.

A Garand wouldn’t have been much fun to carry compared to the carbine.

I bought a Single seven in 327 Federal a few years ago. Its amazing how similar those two cartridges are. The 327 will bust your ear drums even with hearing protection.
