Compared to a 30-06, it’s a wuss…apples and oranges. Any opposition soldier that got hit with a 30-06 173 grain bullet would a whole appendage blown off or a giant hole where it hit. I wouldn’t want to get shot with either!!!

I often think about which one I would have carried had I been there. I think I'd prefer the carbine because it's lighter and I could carry more ammo. The garand would have been miserable to carry. For the Pacific campaign, I think there would be even more benefits to the carbine.

A Garand wouldn’t have been much fun to carry compared to the carbine.
