The carbine and M1 Garand are my favorite guns to shoot. .30 Carbine had a reputation for being weak during the Korean War, but it’s actually a pretty decent cartridge. Compared to a 30-06, it’s a wuss…apples and oranges. Any opposition soldier that got hit with a 30-06 173 grain bullet would a whole appendage blown off or a giant hole where it hit. I wouldn’t want to get shot with either!!! I often think about which one I would of carried had I been there. I think I'd prefer the carbine because it's lighter and I could carry more ammo. The garand would of been miserable to carry. For the Pacific campaign, I think there would be even more benefits to the carbine.
