15-5-30 is Alabama law that basically follows the US Supreme Court Terry v. Ohio ruling. The AL law says the police can ask for ID but nowhere does it say you have to produce it in a field interview.

It also says in order to I.D., the officer must suspect the person of a felony or other crime.

Yep, like I said, Terry v. Ohio (the Pat Down law). There must be a Reasonable Suspicion that a crime is being committed, has been committed, or about to be committed with the totality of the circumstances indicating the reasonableness of this.

You need to look up Edgar versus McCabe. It was affirmed by the court of appeals you are not required to show ID in the state of Alabama if asked by an officer. Nor is refusing to give them ID obstruction.

Alabama law is give your name, address and explanation, and that's it. No DOB, no social.
