The bilge pump will work fine. Get a small 12v lawn tractor battery and a manual switch. The float switches are always getting trash hung up in them and malfunctioning. Or you could hook up the negative side and just tough the positive wire to the battery post when you want to run it. It will pump the boat dry in a matter of seconds. The only good float switches are huge and used for 30' and up boats.
I would recommend building you a new one out of 4-5 sheets of exterior AC plywood. Use epoxy for filets and coat all woodwork with thinned epoxy three times. It will outlast you and Hayden if kept out of the rain (preferably upside down but that may not be feasible).
If cost is an issue, you can use polyester resin but it will require very specific treatment for it to work right.
Whoever is happy will make others happy too. Anne Frank

Rivets aren't that hard to replace.

You should get a "boat hog" that should fix everything.

Forget about riveted alum boats. Not worth it at any price. True. Welded is the way to go but they are a lot higher than riveted ones.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

We use a product named Manus at our shop, to repair roof leaks in box trailers. It is fantastic. The roofs of those trailers are very thin aluminum. Similar to a john boat. I'd paint the entire bottom of that boat, with it. I just can't figure out if I'd recommend putting it on the inside, or the outside. I can tell you this. If you get it clean and dry before you put it on, it's not going to come off.
