I, along with everyone else learned it was about the fertile , black soil "belt" in Alabama history. They changed it.

X3. It is a fact it was named the Black Belt due to the fertile soil. The added part was sprinkled in conveniently due to politics and ignorance. As soon as the guy said that I thought I guess that is what is spread up North about the Black Belt.
