A better option is to replace the micro SD card with another one.

I have Kenwood ones in both my trucks. After the last time this woman bullied me out of my lane and ran me off the road, and then didn't give a crap, I installed one. Next time I will call the cops and sign a warrant on them for failure to yield right of way and reckless driving.

The police don't normally state who is at fault anymore, they just write up the accident and what both people say happened. So the chances of them going after your dashcam footage seems low to me. But even so, they would need a warrant.

I’d have them all over the truck. It was real eye opening hauling grain to the bins.

We use Lytx and Groundcloud for our company trucks. IMO, both are a little bulky for personal vehicles but the video quality is excellent and they have the ability to watch live as well as pull videos from a recorded cloud. Lytx usually will provide the camera if you sign a contract which is around $30/month.

I get letters from Alexander and the hammer yearly and those cameras have saved us plenty. I expect to get a letter shortly from a driver who hydroplaned in front of us on I-85 and we hit him. We hit him in the side and he spun into the concrete barrier and smashed his rearend, he told the officer that we rearended him. The officer was going to write it up that way until we showed him the video.

Revisiting this topic after what happened to wife today. On I-85 south heading downtown. Traffic actually moving smooth with folks acting normal for a change. Until…. She’s in far right lane about to get off at Union street when a local Mensa member who was in the extreme far left lane towing another car with a strap or chain decided he needed to get off at union street too. So he proceeds to jerk all the way across 5 lanes to barely squeeze by to make the exit. Cars screeching, swerving and almost wrecking. Including my wife who had to slam on brakes so hard to avoid the idiot that everything in her vehicle flys to the front. She’s also being narrowly missed by people behind her.
She laid in her horn and gave him a piece of her mind. The old man in the vehicle in tow just tried to wave her by.

I’d hate to think what could have happened. I’d sure like to have some evidence should we need it.

I’ll say that a guy I in now had them put in the companies trucks. Saved them from a lawsuit. Someone died so I won’t say much about it than his company would’ve been sued until the cops watched the video of how the accident actually happened. It was a real mess

You’re going to have to have the driver’s info to do that. In Alabama you can’t sign a warrant on a vehicle, only a person and knowing who the car is titled to is not good enough to ID a driver. Now, vehicles are subject to Civil actions such as Red Light camera tickets so you could sue the owner of the vehicle if there were any damages.

I have one. It costs $35 and works great. It only records the front. Everyone should be using these now as they are great tools to fend off the crooked ambulance chasing lawyers.

So, what y’all are saying here is, get a dash cam to CYA when you’re not at fault but, hide all evidence when you are at fault and try to screw over the other driver and insurance

I have a Vantrue in the commuter car that I drive back and forth from Florence to Decatur. Mounted it low on the window just above the dash and don't even hardly notice its there. I emailed them when I got it and they sent me another mounting plate so I can move it to my F150 if I want to.

Good thought but hard to "drive through" when bumper to bumper with first car and blocked in from behind.

Cams sound like a good idea . Running distance maintaining cruise control might help on those swoop and squats out on the highway .

I have a garmin dashcam and it has a micro sd card, also can connect to wifi. Easy to install and even alerts to lane departure and collision alerts. Also records if vehicle disturbed while parked. Also records audio.

Only looks forward. Haven't needed it yet but feel better with it in my truck.

Now that I have one, doubt I will go without.

Dash cams have saved us a lotta money and headache. The best part is it’s my camera, my video and I can show what I wanna show and delete it if I don’t
In fact we’re downloading footage now to resolve an issue
