I haven't but have had three very close calls. A friends' dachsund got bit in the head and it swole up huge but he survived. Was wondering if anyone was unlucky enough to get bit and how bad it was?

Had a close call once. I think Bhamfred might have been in the past. Seems like I remember reading about it

Just a rat snake, twice.

Ive had several I either stepped on, kicked up, or brushed up against but I have never had a strike get me. I still think I'll die from something else, so I dont worry about snakes. I dont like rattlesnakes in my yard, but I dont bother them in their yards. Im not a big fan of cottonmouths or copperheads because they tend to be more aggressive.

Water moccasin 28 yrs ago. My son was 3 months old. I jumped down by the pier to move a log and jumped right beside him. He hit the ball on the side of my ankle. Punctured skin but deflected due to hitting the bone. Warrior river. Went to Dr. Dietz in Wylam cause he was closer than Loyd Nolan hospital. He said dry bite. Got some infection, had to take antibiotics. Close call.

My step brother got bit by a little rattle snake. He lived through it. He was staying with a nurse at the time. She told him there wasnt any use in going to the hospital, they didnt have any antivenom. He toughed it out. He said it got him higher than any drug he had ever taken. He got over it in a couple days. I figure it must have just put a little venom in him.

My best friend when I was a kid got bit bad by a copperhead. We had just watched Rambo II and he was out in the woods alone and he didnt know snake ID. He snatched it fine but when he went to throw it down it got him. He was in the hospital for days. I made fun of him for years. He never told the truth to anyone else about how it happened because he knew he was an idiot which about cost him an arm.

A neighbor got it from a Copperhead while pulling weeds in his yard. Was pretty sick and lost a good bit of a finger. A friend got a dry bite from a Moccasin. Nothing more than lost a pair of underdrawers. I got it from a rat snake showing off to my now wife's little cousins. I had handled it extensively in the country with no problem, but the ride into town in the bed of my truck got him pissed off I guess. It was worth it though with those little kids, 4 of them, freaking out and screaming thinking I was going to buy the farm and it was going to get them next.

My buddy got hit by a rattler filling a feeder up. Luckily he had on snake boots but he said it knocked him down. He wasn’t physically hurt but it messes him up in the head to where he never hunted that stand again.

A rattlesnake and a couple of copperheads, but I always had snake chaps or snake boots on. None of the bites made it to my skin.

Yes twice - both non-poisonous. My aunt used to tell stories of me catching and bringing snakes into their house. I don’t have a recollection of that, but I do have a very clear recollection of being bit by a rat snake and black snack. Both times on my right arm. I must confess - I wasn’t very smart when handling them and had it coming. Mostly just being extremely stupid trying to impress other kids.

Don't hear many stories of people surviving a poisonous snake bite. That may not be a good thing.

Do what now? Deaths by venomous snake bites are extremely low. Like almost unheard of. Diamondbacks are the most dangerous venomous snake we have in AL but bites are not common. Death by copperhead and cottonmouth are hardly ever reported, yet make up the majority of bites. I know several ppl who have been bitten by those and didn’t even receive medical treatment. Rattlesnakes are a different story though.

I’ve been bitten by hundreds of snakes from tiny rat snakes to 7’ pythons. The nastiest bite was from a 7’ Moluccan python and it was pretty bad. I haven’t been bitten by anything venomous but I’ve sure come close a few times.

I know an old man that got bit by a copperhead. He said he poured diesel fuel or kerosene or something like that on it, might have been coal oil. He said he watcheda drop of venom roll out of each fang mark. Said it hurt quite a bit but he got over it with no lasting effects

If we countin snake boot bites..lawd…them retards in texas go huntem a diamond back just go make sure they dont need to swap out their chips at the feed store…i dont even worry about it here in the gump…out there…every snake was a rattlesnake..we hardly ever seen a dang non venomous snake…i caught a 8ft long indigo an that sucker tore me up..looked like i had raked my arms across sawbriars…little alcohol an never had a issue with infection. We had dogs getin bit all the time..an it kilt some an some lived…seemed like the higher the breed the worse off they was..some ol chit eater that hung around ustah come up totin a diamondback about 4ft long ever so often an i know he was gettin bit all the time…dang $15k bird dog get nicked on the toe an hes gettin a backhoe funeral. Its differnt out there..they used tooem..ive stomped a couple rattlers to death with chips on…they wudnt real big tho..them littlins bout 12-20in long os the ones you gotta worry about..they born pissed off..they mellow out when they bigger..bout 5-6ft long..they so fat all they wanna do is slip between the ditches without getin tar treads on they noggin.
