I went with the Eotech recently because it lacks reflection on colored glass. Housing seems a bit more robust than most. I haven’t mounted it yet, but that’s what I went with.

I have had several Burris and a Vortex. Only issue I’d say is make sure you get the right battery for the Burris ff3. Lots of folks had issues with battery cap flying off.

Swampfox is a good option from what I’ve seen.

Don’t know if it was mentioned but a red dot versus a holographic red dot are different if I recall correctly the holo sight will hit no matter how you line it up gun wise as long as the holographic is on target. A red dot still depends on you mounting the gun the same way every time same as shooting a bead. Your cheek is the second sight. I could be wrong but that’s what I was told.

I have an old Burris speed bead that mounts on the stock bracket. I may reinstall that this year.

Yup getting old and eyesight changing is no fun. I used to have a pretty decent ability wing shooting. Yeah not so much these days. And lining up a bead even with my glasses on leaves a lot to be desired.

Gift it to me.

I have been anti red dot / halo for a long time. I hated how they looked on a gun, I always worried about battery/mechanical failure in the woods, and I just hated them in general. Last season I got my stuff out and was out in my field doing some shooting with dove loads and I just could not see the bead. It appears in my old age and declining eyesight that I just cannot focus on the bead and achieve adequate target acquisition. After several days of soul searching and hand wringing and envisioning crippled gobblers flying off I ordered a Swampfox Kingslayer with the green circle and cross hair and a meadowcreek mount. Best thing I ever did! I can see my target so much better and if I put that green circle on that turkeys head he's dead no questions asked. You know how on a bead you have to be down on that stock and looking down that vent rib flat? With that red dot if you make a mistake and don't get down on that vent rib but you put that circle on him....... dead. I still hate the way it looks but it's the cats meow for my eyes. Fellas....... I fought it as long as I could but it had to happen.

I do keep a little tool kit in my vest with an extra battery and some tools to remove it in the field if it ever fails.

I made the switch last year and started shooting the vortex venom. I was bad about not staying down on the gun. I do not plan on turning back. I love it and I feel like it gives you a little wiggle room on awkward shots.

Make sure they are sighted in/still on is key. don't do like me and miss 4 turkeys in a week only to realize your red dot is 2.5 feet high at 20 yards. Stopped using one for a while then realized at 40 yards, my eyes are getting to where with a bead, it covers the entire turkey up. I made the switch back and back to loving it though I check my gun yearly at least/ if any bump to it etc.

HOLOSUN HE507K 2 MOA Dot & 32 MOA Circle. Makes finding the dot super easy. Will never buy another type.

That's similar to my experience; happened to me about 20 years ago. And even with bad eyes, I've killed a higher % with the red dot. I still would rather not use it, but I'm a more efficient hunter with it.

I have used several different types and all have helped my aging eye sight. They really would’ve helped when i was younger and had great eyesight but less patience. I like the low profile FF3 and Venoms best. I always have extra batteries attached to the gun. One gun has a very low profile mount that i can even co witness the rifle sights I used previously. I always make sure before i start the season that they have new batteries and POI = POA. Then i go and try to shoot turkeys in the face with them. The good Lord has blessed me with this tool that will keep turkeys dying and not many wounded as I hopefully keep getting older.

I've had great luck with the Holosun 510. Wider window than the tubes and auto on / off. It's what I run on all my A.R,s i used to run Eotech's but the price point of the Holosun makes it a no brainer to me.
