That was probably the best national anthem I have ever heard. I remember watching it live I backed it up so my wife could listen when she came in the room.

I finally got settled into a place where I could watch it and the dang halftime show is on with a Michael Jackson impersonator and a black woman playing guitar. I got it on mute cause I imagine it sounds as bad as it looks.
I didn't care for any of the other stuff but the gal is actually a very good guitar player. She had a heavy Prince influenced sound and yes, she’s good. There are Youtube videos out there of her covering Prince guitar solos.

I haven't listened to a ton of her stuff, but have heard a bit of it. I don't care for her original stuff but she's solid when she's covering other folks. There's no doubt she's an above-average guitarist.
With that said, I can't stand her simply for her awful commercials for Nationwide Insurance, where she sings some sappy, emotional song about Nationwide Insurance.

Unpopular Opinion: Chris Stapleton's version of the National Anthem is way overrated. He over-sings everything and his vocal gymnastics are every bit as bad as these black female R&B singers. The National Anthem isn't a time to show off how many different twists you can throw into the song......just freaking sing it straight, the way it was meant to be sung. But, full disclosure, I don't care for much of his stuff in general...everything he sings sounds the same. If you've heard 3-4 of his songs, you've basically heard them all. Honestly though, I really don't like when anyone sings it at events like that......I'd much rather it be played by a band, whether it's a marching band or a military band or the like.

I never said the Kris S. version was the best or worse. I was just getting things diverting back to the REAL National Anthem. All told, the best version IMO is Whitney Houston. Especially when you're deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Desert Shield/Storm.

Not all this other stuff. Thats just diversionary tactics about nothing to do with except keep the focus away from the actual intentions.
