Every prepper needs a 308 or 30-06, or both. Most commonly available ammo in the US. I thought the same thing before the last big ammo shortage. Those two calibers were some of the first to disappear.

Interestingā¦I never knew people questioned the viability of the .308.

I think they all good - glad i added 308 to my rotation and it will be in the line up
270 does not get lot of love - but i always find blood right where he stood when i shot deer with 270. A heavy bullet and a light bullet did not produce blood at shot sight w 308.
I like the gun and i think it is more about finding the right bullet. I hit that dude great last night at 70-80 yards. 270 hotter but longer action and mine considerable more recoil. I am going to experiment with my 308 next year w the 150 grain nbt PCP tried to put me on. He had some impressive holes with 150 nbt
308 lighter and more ammo options and shorter recoil. Lot of it i think about finding right bullet for your gun

308 just works for the application I use. Kill deer and hogs. Puts small holes in paper at 400 yards. Easy to find. Easy to reload.

Interestingā¦I never knew people questioned the viability of the .308. i think most are stating a preference. 308 works just like many calibers will . over all the 308 has more going for it than all others . you get ammo or reload to kill ground hogs to moose . really aint much you cant do with a 308 . with that said i dont prefer it as hunting rifle . id rather have a gun for each kinda hunting i do .

I enjoy hunting with my Howa 308. I shoot Winchester 168 gr Silver Tips thru it. Made my personal best distance shot this season at 395 yards. Good caliber.

Just from the information out there I've always thought the 308 to be the best all around caliber, or right up there. And I've never owned a 308. lol.
