Gundoc, I picked up a Ridge in 22-250 Friday week ago. Blown away with how nice it is. The trigger was fantastic out of the box. Had planned on a Timney but it’s not needed. Only put about 20 rounds through it but it’s a fine rifle. I’m a Bergara fanboy now.
Yep, I started with an American $400ish. Added a B&C stock, $325 then a Timney Trigger $175.00...For a total of $900.
I can buy a ridge for a little under under $800 after tax and don't have to do anything to to but shoot it.
One simple question, how is the Bergara ridge on weight? The Bergara’s I have held seamed heavy but I do not know what models they were.
They are heavier than a standard American but thats due to the stock being made of a more dense and heavier material.
If you add the B&C Stock to a standard American they gain a lot of weight too
The ridge also has a slightly heavier barrel profile.
The advertised weight of a .308 Ridge is 7.2#
A comperable American - the Predator with an 18" barrel is 6.25#
If you ditch the cheap green stock on the Ruger and replace it with the Magpul American Hunter on 20" barrel model with a factory brake the weight jumps to 9.2#
The Bergara Hunter with a standard sporter taper 22" barrel is advertised at 6.9#
