I've killed many deer with a .308. I currently hunt with a 30-06.
I really can't tell a difference at the distances I shoot.
They both launch a 168gr bullet fast enough to efficiently get the job done.

I've only owned 1 308 I regeret selling...Crocker currently has it - or did last time I asked .lol

I've thought about gettinng another Ruger American in .308 but by the time I get rid of the cheap stock and the crappy trigger, I could buy a Bergara.
I don't like the new Gen II American rifles either.
All Ruger did was added a few features for cool points(fluted barrel and brake...I hate brakes).
The triggers still suck.
