Stay hydrated ( lots of water). My Dr. said males feel better when the top number is in the low 130's. Bottom number shouldn't be over 80. Im on metoprolol. Works good for me That’s what I take.
I take it at home sitting in my chair. Ive done it about every way you can think of at home. Always runs close to the same
You need to stop by your local health dept and take whatever you are using to check your pressure with and check to see how accurate it is. I've had high blood pressure ever since I was about 40 now 73 and have never had a home unit that was accurate, could just be the ones I've had are no good but there always 10 to 15 points higher than the readings at the dr's office. I fought high numbers even with medication until I cut out 95% of my caffeine consumption and started eating a table spoon of Ceylon cinnamon (most cinnamon bought in this country is fake need to be sure your getting the real stuff) on my toast ever morning at breakfast. Before I started that my numbers were always 150/160 over 85/95. Had an old school Dr put me onto the cinnamon about 20 years ago and ever since my numbers are always 120/125 over 70/75. Mine is genetic all the exercise in the world did nothing to lower it. Dr tried every combination in the books and I ended with a cheap combination of Amlodipine Besylate 10 mg and Losartan Potassium 100 mg, have been on this combination for 30 years. Yall can laugh at the cinnamon but nothing I ever tried would lower my numbers until I started using it.

My Dr. said that for every 10 lbs you lose, your BP will drop 5%.

My Dr. said that for every 10 lbs you lose, your BP will drop 5%. Im pretty good at gaining, not so good at losing. I can go on vacation four days and gain 5lbs. But i will usually lose it my first day or two back at work. With my routine, i guess im kinda stuck where im at

My BP was about the same as yours so I started doing this about a month ago https://youtu.be/A5hQNiQqKyA?si=UHICLRzq4zho8AUcI also started the carnivore diet so not sure if one or the other has helped but my BP was 116/68 yesterday. I am still taking my BP meds but plan to stop soon to see what it will be. The problem is big pharma and doctors don’t determine the cause of issues they just medicate it so I started looking for other ways to help. I have lost about 15 lbs so I’m sure that helps a little as well.

Exercise and diet don’t help mine one bit. I’m very active, exercise regularly and eat mostly protein and vegetables. I’ve been on BP meds and heart arrhythmia meds since I was 22. I’m turning 40 in two months. Diet and exercise don’t help when it’s genetic. Mine runs 160/90 without meds. On meds it’s 130/70 It’s hard to beat genetics.

BP is partially hereditary, dont play with it. A many of people “felt” fine with no effects of high bp only to have a massive stroke…Not worth it….

. Chest hurting few years back . Had all kinds test. I’m good just stress at the time because people I have work with . Got away from that an im good . It was 180/100 at the time . I know with more exercise a lose 20pds I could probably get off it . don’t eat junk food at all . Mines 135/90 now with meds an no stress an im good with that . I take 5mg norvast . Was on lisinopril gave me bad headaches . If mine stayed around 140/90 I would n t take the meds if my doc was ok with it . An especially since my family has no history of heart disease. I would do whatever dr told me . Just a sign of getting older for most of us like reading glasses .

Her exercise regiment alone is pretty strong. Myself is hereditary of a different nature but still there nonetheless. I take4 heart meds not counting the vitamins and fish oils. The crazy thing is I eat more bacon than ever and my blood is the best it has been for the past 10 years. Healthy fats and trying to lower salt, salt I’d in everything.

Hawthorn Berry serum. Coworker is off his meds using it and I’m working on it myself. I’m a harder case being overweight and have had high BP since high school. Also, the Methyl Folate connection is interesting to me as well, especially for us that have always heard its “genetics”.

A while back when I went pretty healthy my blood pressure dropped a lot. Probably several things to give credit to. I need to get back on it.
You are already pretty physically active. My opinion is to see if something simple like eliminating sugar and other excess junk carbs (French fries, unnecessary breads, chips, whatever) would have a meaningful effect. If so, great. If not, maybe take the medicine. I need to take my own advice here.

Let me ask you a question? How did they take your BP? You should wait a minimum of 2 minutes after getting into a room before they take it. You need to sit upright in a hard back chair, and make sure your legs aren't crossed.
Your reading is what I get at my regular doc. I go to a doc in the box and it's 110/70.
I spend 3 hours a week in the gym. 2 hours doing weights and an hour doing cardio, in 30 min increments. It's a commitment but it sure is nice to be able to go up stairs and not be huffing and puffing.
I take it at home sitting in my chair. Ive done it about every way you can think of at home. Always runs close to the same Mine reads higher at home on my machine than when I get a good check at docs office. As long as it stays the same I wouldn't be as concerned. If it goes up from that, then I would. Being in pain will raise your BP too.

When they took my bp at the doctors office the other day i hadnt earen all day and had sat there watching people who came in after my go before me. I was likely hangry. They took it twice, it was a little higher the second time

An older body versus a younger body. I’m pretty sure hardening of arteries and other age related stresses change as we age. Exercise becomes increasingly more important as we age. Also bad things we did at younger ages become more and more apparent. Like my cardiologist told me the other day. Exercise is a medicine
She knows my wife and her exercise regiment.
My best exercise is walking the dogs. 😝

My Dr. said that for every 10 lbs you lose, your BP will drop 5%. I’m definitely fat now but several years back I lost 40 pounds trying to come off medicine. Didn’t touch my BP. I have been on meds since early 20s

I have been on meds since early 20s I dont know for sure but i believe when i quit smoking and gained 45lbs was robably when my bp went up. I checked alot 3yrs ago, last time the doctor wanted me on meds. Its the same now that it was then. Im just trying to come up with a plan in caes it goes up more
