If the season starts on a Monday the prior week ends on the previous day - Sunday.

Saturday and Sunday of the "prior week" would then be 23-24th

Monday being the first day of the week is a mostly European thing. Generally, most all of North America considers Sunday the first day of the week. Like OP said, how freaking hard would it have been for them to simply put actual youth dates?
