The thing I wanna know is why are turkeys the ONLY bird that has a season limit? The turkey population on my place is doing way better than the quail population; I'll bet it is where you hunt too. And yet the state allows hunters to kill 8 quail per day for around 90 days - that's 720 quail per person! No wonder I don't have any!
Nobody needs to kill more than 4 quail per season. If they implemented a reasonable season limit, some of those quail on the big plantations would probably fly to my house and I could get a few too. That would be fair. The rich plantation owners shouldn't be the only people who get to quail hunt.
I'll cover ducks in my next post. I haven't seen a single duck all season, so we obviously need more restrictions on them. Come to think of it, what happened to the big flocks of blackbirds we had when I was a kid? Greedy hunters, no doubt.

Hearing a bob white in the spring is a thing of the past I’m afraid. I remember hearing them all the time as a kid.

Im pretty sure I have all the blackbirds at my house There are a thousand of them that have been staying at my place for weeks now They will land in my pasture and feed for a while and then come to my driveway to get gravel....same thing every day for weeks now

Hearing a bob white in the spring is a thing of the past I’m afraid. I remember hearing them all the time as a kid. I’ve seen more quail in the past two years than the previous 20 years combined. Other guys in the office saying the same, and some contractors who spend a lot of time in the woods. And they are hanging out in habitat that was previously thought to be uninhabitable for quail.

Im pretty sure I have all the blackbirds at my house There are a thousand of them that have been staying at my place for weeks now They will land in my pasture and feed for a while and then come to my driveway to get gravel....same thing every day for weeks now There may still be flocks of blackbirds like we had in the 60s, but I don't see them. That could be due to the lack of agriculture where I live, but I think there just isn't as many as it used to be. But my dad used to say the same thing, so it could just be the false impressions of an old man - nothing is ever as good as it used to be. I remember him telling me the story of spending an hour crawling down a ditch to get in perfect position to fire an old SxS into a big flock to kill as many as possible. He only had 2 shells and they had to count. When he got in the right spot, he flushed them and then fired both barrels into them, then recovered 52. That made the family several meals. I hope everyone understands I was joking about a quail season limit; that would be stupid. But the turkey season limit is almost as dumb. I am the only person in the state affected by it. Others claim to be, but they are all lying.

Decoys always got in my way. Also I never even killed a bird off a decoy. Had several bad outcomes form me where the gobbler would spook.
I also know some guys that killed limits by putting out flocks of decoys. had a pop up blind and deer hunted them on green fields. Call/hunter shy birds would eventually come right on in, eventually.

I think you should have to trap 10 coons and kill 2 bobcats and three coyotes before you can hunt. Also you need to plant chufa and clover plots and not hunt them. The line in the sand is my property line. Ain't none of my business what the other fellow does
