Question about the design: was there a reason you went with a small hallway to the addition, plus more deck space, instead of just extending the cabin's full length and getting more indoor square footage? I really like your design and wondered if there is a reason beyond preference. As designed it looks like you will have a deck area where you get view but can escape from the wind.



1. We already have an 8'x'8 deck there, so I'm going to reuse that framing for the flooring for that "dogtrot."
2. I wanted to be able to build the addition with minimal affect to our current living space.
3. I wanted a separate space for us and our guests, family, etc...
4. I just felt is was a simpler design to keep the addition separate regarding construction and final tie-in work.
5. I'm kind of a doofus so I like to keep everything as simple as possible. grin
