Decided to paint the black Magpul Hunter on my Bergara Wilderness Ridge SP to look something like the original stock. Used acetone to wipe down the whole thing and hung it up via string in the garage. Covered it with a light coat of dark grey automotive primer, then used alternating colors of satin khaki, satin brown, satin spruce green, satin moss green. Once I got the camo pattern where I wanted it, I opened a half-pint can of old school Rust-Oleum semi-gloss black enamel. This is the paint in a can, not spraypaint. I rolled a paper towel up so it was cone-shaped and had a point, and dipped it maybe 1/2” into the thick black enamel and then sling it at the stock to get strings of paint to fly onto it. Took a heat gut set at 800F and spent the next 30-40 minutes baking it all on. The enamel is raised and gave it some good contrast on both color and texture. I really like how this one turned out. Looks good, what did you use for the splatter? It looks thicker than paint

Looks really good! Krylon also makes a splatter or webbing paint to get that affect in silver and black I think.
Did you add any clear coat after the paint?

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
