I guess I know why I have been doing the european mounts myself. First shoulder mount I did cost me $75 I think the last one was $250. But, I knew the guy and he was always asking to hunt.

I personally like the Euro mounts better than the shoulder mounts. A heck of a lot cheaper and you can do them yourself at home with minimum instruction.

Guess I’ll be just swapping horns if I kill another mounter!! That’s crazy how much a shoulder mount cost these days.. There's a shoulder mount for sale in the classifieds for $40. Much cheaper option and one I've never thought of before. Was an old man that was in one of those you shoot it ya have to mount it clubs, and he used to come by my Buddy's shop, and he'd always have him just swap out horns with an old mount 😄 Smart fella!!

Started doing my own Euro mounts about 3 years ago and love it, I will still do a shoulder mount, but it has to be bigger than anything I already have on the wall....I also will have to get a shoulder mount for my wife when she kills her first buck that she wants mounted.....

Any decent taxidermist can get you a cape.

$800 to $950 for a standard shoulder mount. $900.00 to $1200.00 for a standard wall pedestal is the going rate at the proven top notch result producing taxidermists. IMO taxidermy is definitely a "get what you pay for". business. As for taxidermists in my area, I don't think you will find better than Chad Cooper.

No offense but, I have seen some of the taxidermy work that you guys have. Not to say you have to spend a bunch of money but….many of you cheap bastards have the most awful looking taxidermy work in there homes that I would rather soak my house in gasoline burn the whole thing to the ground rather than have to look at that POS on the wall. Also, when people leave your house, they are asking each other how in the world you can stand to have that hairy turd mounted on your wall! No offense of course. Just my .02. It NEVER pays to be cheap! It is like a disease! End it now! It can be passed down to your children through your DNA!
