Are the current versions of the Ol’Man climbers worth having? I’m trying to find a climber that will fold flat for transport.

A bunch of copies out there now of various brands. I picked up a used Drone model with the leveling system on top and bottom. I love it. Millennium had the brand last I knew of.

I used to be a die hard ol man treestand guy…i still think the old ones are the finest stands on earth…that bein said..im not a fan of the new ones at all..but..i pretty much hate all climbin stands..ive never used a lone wolf but ive heard good things..but good luck findin a decent deal on them over priced turds. I aint ever ised another stand i liked besides an ol man…probly get hated on by most..but i wouldnt scotch the tires on a chit truck with a summit or any other on besides an ol man…but its gotta be an older first generation stand.

i still think the old ones are the finest stands on earth…that bein said..im not a fan of the new ones at all... I have a newer old man and it is my last pick to take in the woods walking in anywhere. The old one I have is my favorite and the one I use the most

Ol Man's are the most dangerous stands that have ever been made. Ol' Man was sued into oblivion in the late 90's and early 2000's, and I know of at least a half dozen recalls on them in their early years from pins shearing to the teeth that bite into the tree bending and dumping people out of them.

I looked that up bc…9000 stands recalled in 2007 due to pin failure…1800 stands in 2004 due to the serated teeth folding up…i know the 1990’s lawsuits were mostly the carbon air elites…thus my my username…heck summits got 3000 stands and a class action suit filed against them right now….the mid 90’s stands with the blades are all i use..i wouldnt have one that wasnt a straight arm with blades. As for bein dangerous…if you are in something thats been recalled and is deffective..it’s dangerous…if you dont know what your doing..its also dangerous. People who know know i am an absolute treestand nerd..and i hate all climbing stands..but to say the ol man is the most dangerous just isnt true…unless you are untrained or fat..ive always noticed fat people struggle in ol mans..well they struggle at most things..but they especially struggle in an ol man…but..dont use an ol man until someone who knows how to properly use one educates you..an maybe push away from the table ever now and then🤷🏻

I have and use occasionally the aluminum version, now made by Millenium (the current owners of Ole man stands). It weighs 21 pounds. The platform can be a little noisy so I added silencer / traction strips. Overall I like the stand as well as the original, of which I had 6. I quit using those due to the recalls, etc…. Purchased the aluminum version 4 years ago.

I have a treewalker I have hardly used but it’s the best I’ve ever used. If u buckle it u have no business climbing anyway. Thought about selling it as I don’t climb anymore. Never did like climbing because I’m scared of heights but had to at times when I hunted hard. Hunted out of ol man and never had an issue.

Kkfish, there is alot of people’s out there that are afraid of heights and really..thats their ultimate downfall..they cant get past being off the ground and that is what gets them in trouble..they cant trust the tool they use because their nature betrays them. Ive watched many men climb that are terrified of heights and i have quitely thought to myself..its a wonder they dont kill their self..freeak out..lean forward and boom..you loose that positive forward lean that makes the stand grab the tree and boom..its a fast slide to the ground..or enough to make you freak out and blame the stand..when in reality…you should probly hunt off a bucket. I climbed power poles for years..and im not a rigging expert…but i was good at my trade..that alone saves me from any real issues i could have in any stand…but..if your not comfortable being off the ground…odds are..its not going to get better and it will absolutely form a poor opinion overall of almost anything to do with climbing

I cut my old man stand into pieces and threw it in the scrap metal dumpster at work. In my opinion it's one of the most dangerous stands made.

I don't find any of them particularly "safe". I had a buddy who took a dive out of an Ol' Man in the early 2000's twice, and both times it was stand failure. Luckily both times he was just a few feet off the ground.

I have a North Star “climbing star” that has a strap you sit on climbing up, folds flat as a pancake, weighs about the same, has Quake claw shoulder straps and a fold down solid seat that’s just most comfortable thing once it’s up and ratchet strapped in, hook the top and bottom together and it’s rock solid. Feels a lot like an older lone wolf. Great bow hunting stand.

I love the old man's from that Era and I still use the multi vision to this day. I'm trying to figure out how it can be the most dangerous and I can't wrap my head around it

My 1st climber was a Amaker. Now those were death traps. I have used a ol man once, didn't like it. Used a API for years then bought a Tree Walker. As stated earlier, if you don't have the knowledge or understanding to use it then don't use it since any stand can be "unsafe".
