A newly coined aldeerism was recently mentioned in the sports forum. Seeing it there I figured we needed a post to capture all aldeerisms in one place. Like the English language & a Merriam-Webster dictionary, aldeerisms are always changing & new words & phrases are always being added.

For those unaware, an aldeerism is a word or phrase used to describe a person/place/thing/event, that is used on the forum by an Aldeer member in place of proper grammar, spelling & the otherwise normal & common definition of a word or phrase.

We've had some real doozies over the years.

Examples that I can recall. (Please add to the list & give the definition if you like. Some of them need to remain mysterious)

Cald
Arras -- arrows
Like a starvin' Ethiopian (is that guy still around?) grin
Hell Mary -- means hail mary
Wather -- means weather
black painter - black panther, a species never seen in Alabama
Puts sugar in their cornbread -- it's basically a sin & something that nobody should do
