It has been happening in that area for sure. Dead deer laying all over the side of the road as well. 90% of my Bama tracks have come from Athens area this year.

Loaded up a really nice buck for a young hunter this afternoon…..The deer was shot yesterday around 4:00 pm but they didn’t get my number until today around lunch so it was 23 hrs after the shot when we got on the track…..We found him still alive a few hundred yards from the hit site and were able to dispatch him without much trouble…..

You act like they don’t get tracking calls during gun season. rofl

Matter of fact, I know more gun hunters than bow hunters that have had to call for a tracking dog.

Yep, that comment isnt aging too well is it?? laugh

Im shocked that yotes did not get on that buck and finish him off with him laying out there for a full 24 hrs. Dang sure must not have them there like we do. Great job finding him for the young man. Nice buck too.

Yeah, it was fortunate they didn’t find him but he had only gone about 250-300 yards from the hit site…..He was actually a lot spunkier than you would think having his legs wounded like that. He got up out of the bed and charged at Otis pretty aggressively…Otis about played that one a little too nonchalantly. I'm gonna start throwing my cur dog in there with him on these leg hits but I was afraid this one might be tough to track after 23 hrs.

Loaded up a pretty routine gut shot this morning……Found him roughly 300 yards from the hit site. Never found a single drop of blood. Funny thing about this track was the hunter shot the wrong deer….He shot it across a big hay field close to 350 yards just before dark yesterday and apparently got lined up on the wrong one…..It was supposed to be a big buck we were tracking. There was definitely a little ground shrinkage on this one. grin

Well, I got the po-leece called out on me for the first time tonight…..It wasn’t really a big surprise considering where I got called out to track….The deer was shot with a crossbow about 250 yards from the water of Lake Martin…..The hunter had permission to track the deer where we were at but I could see the lights of at least 10-12 other houses so I figured one of them would end up calling…..Shout out to whoever the Tallapoosa Co sheriff’s deputies were that responded…..They were extremely cool about it……The buck ended up just being shoulder shot though so no recovery……

They are probably use to it. Me and my dad had the cops called on us twice with the same deer 25 years ago.

Tracking around Huntsville has got the police called on me several times. Never got in actual trouble though. My dogs did bay a deer in a garbage dump one day and that had a few folks mad. Fixing to leave work and go track a couple

I had a backwhack also. It was a long drive and I told the guy it 100 percent sounded like a backwhack. He made it worth it atleast. I'm done for the day. Father-in-law is in the hospital and my daughter is sick so I'm watching kids. Your cousin found his atleast
